I'm not a gamer myself, but this system is significantly more powerful than a Raspberry Pi without a doubt. There is a Linux distro called Batocera.Linux (https://batocera.org/) that is supposedly a turn-key solution for turning mini pc's like this into gaming consoles. Besides that, this comes with an apparently legit copy of Win 11 Pro as part of the $130 price tag.

Anyway, if your goal is retro gaming, a Raspberry Pi is smaller and more energy-efficient for these types of tasks, but honestly, once you add in a case, a good power supply (RPi's are picky with respect to power...), and storage, it is probably at the same price or even more than this $130 machine. But if you are interested in more modern gaming or more powerful emulation, this system would be better and give you more flexibility for future upgrades.
Fyi check out Reddit minipc forum, some users mention that these effectively have ZERO warranty.

Just saying buyers might want to read up.
N150 is a minor bump-up from N100

I wonder if this would be worth grabbing just as a SolidEdge workstation given it includes Win 11 pro.

Ackshully............ those used the first gen Xeon E5-16xx - of which the most common was the 1620, a 4C/8T CPU with 130W TDP and almost identical performance to this. How times have changed
Ah you are right. Thanks for the assist. I was off by a generation on the Xeon model. oops. I edited my original with a correction note.

Good point. So we still want the lowest TDP for whatever performance level we are looking for.
Debatable, since TDP doesn't account for things like the power consumed at idle. If CPU-1 kicks out 200W of heat at full tilt but 5W at idle, that may be more efficient than CPU-2 that kicks out 150W at full tilt but idles at 20W. It's going to depend how much of the time your CPU spends in all these various states, as well as the other parts in there that make your CPU do CPU things--what if the motherboard for CPU-1 requires 50W to idle and the motherboard for CPU-2 requires 25W?

My stance remains that TDP is only really valuable for deciding how big of a heatsink to slap on something, and outside of that is just something for nerds to argue about.

I just built two retro gaming consoles using Dell Micro-PC's and the Batocera.Linux image I used from BoredGameDad and they are awesome. Tons of retro consoles and games all loaded up and ready to go. Highly recommend it.

If you get it directly from GMKtec, it is still the low price.

The CPU supports a max of **16GB** of RAM, not 32GB: https://www.intel.com/content/www...tions.html

Would you trust this for using banking and other critical information? Scared cause of the Ace Magician brand having spyware built in.
I have been using GMKtec Mini PCs with Ryzen 7 for some time and very happy with the performance. Smaller and lower power consumption with comparable speed to a Desktop. The only drawback of GMKtec Mini PC is slightly higher fan noise than Beelink Mini PC (I have it too).

for an extra $8 you could upgrade to the N97. Seems like its probably worth the extra few dollars. Thoughts?https://a.co/d/1YJ3ZLg
My sister bought one and she hates it. The tiny form factor makes it a heat trap. The fan is constantly on and loud. Drove her crazy. She ended up returning the G5 and bought the G3 instead. Mind you, she made her decision base on acoustic factor. Not performance.

For sure, 16GB RAM is the *officially* supported amount according to Intel, but there are lots of reports of folks successfully using it with a 32GB stick, too. In my experience, it is not uncommon that a manufacturer cites certain specs, but in reality, other specs apply. For example, I have been able to install 2x the *officially* supported amount of RAM my last three Dell laptops. And same thing with a current HP desktop I have--the limit is supposedly 2x16GB=32GB, but 2x32GB=64GB actually works.

Anyway, not saying that one should or should not do this--just commenting that plenty of folks have had success with it despite the *official* guidance.
