I'm not a gamer myself, but this system is significantly more powerful than a Raspberry Pi without a doubt. There is a Linux distro called Batocera.Linux (https://batocera.org/) that is supposedly a turn-key solution for turning mini pc's like this into gaming consoles. Besides that, this comes with an apparently legit copy of Win 11 Pro as part of the $130 price tag.

Anyway, if your goal is retro gaming, a Raspberry Pi is smaller and more energy-efficient for these types of tasks, but honestly, once you add in a case, a good power supply (RPi's are picky with respect to power...), and storage, it is probably at the same price or even more than this $130 machine. But if you are interested in more modern gaming or more powerful emulation, this system would be better and give you more flexibility for future upgrades.
Fyi check out Reddit minipc forum, some users mention that these effectively have ZERO warranty.

Just saying buyers might want to read up.
N150 is a minor bump-up from N100

Two questions, once activated with windows 11 pro, any issues with activation on fresh install of the OS?

Anyone install windows 10 instead and have any driver issues?

Thanks!

I have a g2 that I put 10 on. 4 devices showed up as unknown, once I figured out that all I had to do for each one was to point to the main drivers folder on the usb and let the pc figure it out it went smoothly. I should add I did not install the pre loaded 11 pro first then wipe. I should have but lessons learned oh well.

On the similar model (G5) I was able to do a fresh install of 10 and it was already activated on 10 Pro at first login. I didn't have any driver issues, just did windows update until it stops offering them like on any new pc build and it filled in everything. Only thing I added manually was the newest Intel UHD drivers.

At this price, why still buy raspberry pi 😆
Raspberry Pi uses a lot less power.

This mini PC uses up to 30 watts under load. RPI5 uses under 8 watts or 73% less power.
Mini PC uses 12 watts at idle. RPI5 under 3 Watts or 75% less.
Difference in idle watts of 9 watts over a year is 78kWh (214 Watts/day).
Difference under full load of 22 watts over a year is 193 kWh (538 Watts/day).
RPI5 energy bill will be 1/4 of the GMKtec.

If you're in a state with high electricity rates (eg close to 50c/kWh) or if you're running solar/battery this energy savings is significant. Not everyone has these requirements, but for those that do, the RPI5 makes sense.

Man, this is nice. I was going to get an Apple Mini, but I just don't need that much power. I need something simple to manage personal stuff like documents, finances, email, etc. Purchased the 16gb/512.

Thanks for sharing.

Anyone else??

PEAnut, iperf3 server, open speed test server (fun speed test webpage), etc. the use cases are endless with docker or proxmox on these things. Those are just utilities. There is an entire suite of "media" apps in docker or proxmox

50 cents per kWh? Good God... who pays that much?

Or get something like this for less money and that is built much better and with a 1 year warranty.

I got one for about $80 including shipping and tax for a Linux build. I swapped the HD for an SSD I already had. Impressive little system and built very well. Uses about 8 watts at idle with Linux.

Another plus, as a 7th gen Intel CPU, it doesn't support Windoze 11.

Bingo! Only have to remember Ryzen 2xxx and 7th gen and lower Intel processors will need registry hack to upgrade to Win 11.

I wouldn't call Windows 11 an upgrade.

While that perception was somewhat deserved at launch, it's an ignorant take 3 1/2 years later - for both consumer and certainly enterprise users.
