      Description says silicone tipped. I don't think silicone was identified as a problem in that recent study.

      The study was debunked: https://www.scientificamerican.co...las-again/

      The levels found were miscalculated and were 1/10th of the EPA levels. The journal that published the study was also subsequently penalized for publishing the study, one of 60 it had recently retracted.

      That being said, don't use plastics or non-stick for high heat and always turn on your stove hood.

      9" is too short if you're using these to cook with (ex. tossing noodles, stir-fry, etc.). My hand gets too close to the pan and the steel parts will get too hot also. Get at least 12" for cooking.

      I think it was due to the black heat resistant paint used. White plastic was fine. If this Silicone is colored using same/similar chemicals, it would have the same cancer chemicals.

      Another commenter got it it first, but it can't be said enough: debunked, garbage study.

      This one's a classic case where the original, incorrect story will have lasting traction because it got so much widespread attention, and most won't ever see the follow-up saying it was wrong. At least it's less consequential than the whole vaccine/autism saga.

      people worried about silicone/etc... you should be more worried about all the lazy F's that never remove the silicone tips to wash inside them... it's mold city in these fracking things unless you're on top of it all the time.

      It would be nice if this sentence started differently. So many of us are going to be questioning our existence…if 9" is too short wtf are the rest of us going to do?!?!?
