Kroger has a current sale for (1 to 5) coke, pepsi or 7up (also includes A&W, Canada Dry, Barq's, Cheerwine, Crush, Mountain Dew, Rite, Fanta, Dr.Pepper, Fresca, Brisk, Mellow Yello, Minute Maid, Seagram's, RC, Sprite, Squirt, Starry, Sunkist & Yoo-hoo) 12 packs for $4.99 for the next 5 days with a digital coupon
Kroger's MSRP is $10.99 for a 12 pack so if you only want 1, 2, 4 or 5 it's the better "deal" (best deal is cutting out soda entirely)
Edit: Checked and MSRP varies from $7.19 to $7.99. The Target deal only works on multiples of 3 even and with the 5% red/circle card the deal is still basic and not beating Kroger (if you need exactly 3,6,9,12 go with Target to save a few $)

Certain states so read the details and get those receipts uploaded! I did this deal x2 last night at Kroger! $20 should be my rebate on 4.

That's not a knock on the OP, this is just the reality of today's pricing. Like with cigarettes we're all too addicted to change our buying habits regardless of price gouging so we've shown Pepsi and Coke that there's zero reason they should ever return their products to those pre-COVID prices again.
I think overall, like many said here, they've reduced their consumption or stopped it altogether and have switched to water (of various sorts) and healthier drinks, especially the younger generations.
Here's part of the article:
"Costco's choice to now revert back to Coca-Cola products comes after the beverage company revealed in its latest earnings report that it faced a 23% year-over-year decline in operating revenue (a company's profit after expenses) during the third quarter of 2024."
