Yes but you don't need the software for daily use. Set it up and forget it. I have whole house Sonos and it's the best purchase I've made. Easy to use. Easy to sync. Easy for my wife and kids.

I've been posting the following PSA off and on for years. Their latest app issue is more of the same. I don't care how people spend their money or what they spend it on. But I want people considering the ecosystem to go in with their eyes open as they make choices…

I used to be one of the absolute biggest Sonos fans. A raving fan. Just be aware that Sonos doesn't future proof their products very well. I can't even update my software and apps to get new functionality without getting rid of 15 earlier generation speakers. —Thousands of dollars of speakers. And if I buy new speakers to use with my older ones, they are limited by the old software and apps.

Sonos is fine for accessory speakers if you go in with your eyes open. But if you are setting up a full home theater, you may end up wishing you had used a Sonos Port with traditional speakers and a receiver. That way, you only need to upgrade to a newer Port.

Just remember that the tech Sonos links to the speakers has a shelf life that Sonos determines and be aware that Sonos has been woefully short-sighted in the past. Sonos wants to sell you an entire new system a decade or so down the road. Which, for speakers, is ridiculous. Otherwise, you may end up being quite frustrated down the road if Sonos screws with their customer base again.

People will say, "They still do what they could do when you first bought them." But that's not true. I bought Sonos specifically because their primary advertised feature was that that they could continue to adapt to future technology, services, etc... That is no longer the case with my speakers simply because Sonos wanted to save few dollars on memory, etc…

And I am not bothered if you downvote this post. The post doesn't exist for you. It exists for the people who are considering entering the Sonos ecosystem or people considering big Sonos home theater purchases. They deserve to be fully informed consumers before making a significant purchase.

Easy when it is working... previous version of the app was great. Current not so much.

What happens if this company goes under? Does that render this useless?

People spending this much for speakers are quite silly because it's just about guaranteed they couldn't perceive the difference from speakers at half the cost or less.
The cost bump on these vs other speakers has very little to do with audio quality and more about their usability as networked speakers.

So sorry that your ears must be shot. Such a young age as well to lose any appreciation for speaker quality - not specifically these but your comment in general.

I'm almost 70. Thinking of getting these to replace some Paradigms.

Just noting that this matches the lowest price I have seen for these. They were last $749 in December and $799 just before that. I sold all of my Sonos gear last summer a few months into the ongoing Sonos app debacle. I'm considering this deal as I need wireless speakers because of my living room setup. The current in-ceiling speakers do not sound good for music.

not true. i upgraded from four OG homepods (great sound) to arc ultra and two 300s (sub 4 delivery today), and i notice the difference. $2700 really isnt that much to spend on speakers when compared to wilson and B&O.

Of course not. They will continue to work just fine because they each have a 3.5 mm line-in port.

"work just fine"? Like how they work now? How convenient is it to have to have a device tethered via a 3.5mm cable? Hardly how you want your $750 speakers to work. Basically, if Sonos goes under (a possibility given many factors with them) most of the convenience of the devices won't work.
