not true. i upgraded from four OG homepods (great sound) to arc ultra and two 300s (sub 4 delivery today), and i notice the difference. $2700 really isnt that much to spend on speakers when compared to wilson and B&O.
Wilson and B&O will last a lifetime...and have resale value.

Virtually every bluetooth/smart speaker (like Sonos) will be paperweights 20 years from now, IMHO. At least based on all the ones I have in my garage from the past decade!

And a speaker with built in amplification can't really compete against one with an external amp/preamp etc.

You mean like a set of KEF LS50 II not being able to compete? Didn't think so.

"work just fine"? Like how they work now? How convenient is it to have to have a device tethered via a 3.5mm cable? Hardly how you want your $750 speakers to work. Basically, if Sonos goes under (a possibility given many factors with them) most of the convenience of the devices won't work.
I have about 10 total Sonos speakers in my home and they all work great with or without the app. I understand a lot of people are having issues with the app and Sonos as a company are going through changes, but that doesn't mean that the speakers will all of a sudden stop working.

These speakers in particular are one of the best sounding speakers for music listening. I purchased these to hook up to my record player and they sound phenomenal.

Sonos products sell well and sell out when on sale. I've been running Play 5 Gen 2 for many years and bought an Arc Ultra with upgrade discount. The pair of Play 5's have great range, that I don't even need the Sub.

Where did I say they would "stop working"?

I agree with you, I have these and the sound quality is just top notch. For the app, I don't care much.

People spending this much for speakers are quite silly because it's just about guaranteed they couldn't perceive the difference from speakers at half the cost or less.
It's not necessarily about the cost of the speakers, it's about the wireless play and sync and stuff—that's their special sauce. I have a whole Sonos surround setup in my movie room, no wires other than that power and an HDMI from the TV to the soundbar.

One other one's throughout the house can play one podcast for example and I can listen to it walking around doing laundry.

I got the arc and then a bunch of Sonos speakers and never really used them with the app after setting them up. I was just using them as Airplay 2 speakers.
When I upgraded to a receiver and 5.1.4 set up, I sold the other Sonos speakers (except the Roam) and got a few Belkin airplay things which turns any speaker into an Airplay 2 speaker.
But these are really good and this is a great price.

Great speakers but the software has been absolutely trash lately
True, but I never used the software even when it worked as advertised. I have 17 Sonos devices across my home, and only used Sonos software for initial install. After that, they're all controlled by TV input, voice assistant or airplay. Much quicker, smoother, and more intuitive.

You can buy bricks cheaper at Home Depot. Sono's bricks equipment when it's no longer profitable to support them. Home Depot is the way.

Yes but you don't need the software for daily use. Set it up and forget it. I have whole house Sonos and it's the best purchase I've made. Easy to use. Easy to sync. Easy for my wife and kids.
You need the app to play any of the streaming services.

What happens if this company goes under? Does that render this useless?
Yes, pretty much renders them useless. You could use them with their input, but they would no longer be wireless speakers with all the streaming services, and all of the Sonos enhancements.
