activated on 2/14, just tried putting a different SIM card in there and found out it's not unlocked. I only paid for 1 month of service and just put it in my drawer. what can I do now?
try to master reset the phone and see if it does anything.
(assuming you don't need anything backed up)

there is a free imei checker which tells. you if it's locked or unlocked
Activated on 2/16 and it's still not unlocked yet. Talked to two rep via online chat but got shot down both times. Anyone had better chances? Should I call them instead?
sounds like they changed the policy on 4/1/25 (according to the language on "unlock policy"):
For all cellphones Activated on the Verizon network on or after November 23, 2021, the cellphone will be remotely unlocked automatically 60 days after paid Activation and 60 days of paid active service.
I am wondering however for the 2nd month's service, if I can just get the cheapest plan at $40, or original plan at $65?

It's 60 days of paid service, doesn't matter what plan you're using. Even some people filed an FCC complaint and TW answer was take this $10 monthly plan and 30 days later it should unlock.

The unlocking department usually has more authority than the regular chat reps: 1-888-442-5102
It's worth a try, but it sounds like they have also been telling people that two months paid service is needed.
There's no explanation how TW is determining unlocking eligibility after they changed their policy since I bought two iPhone 13s and activated both on the same day. One is unlocked, the other isn't.

Called unlock department but there was no go.

Same. I call total and file fcc complaint. They just took the same report about the 60 day unlock from my call and said well let you know in 2-3 days
Any update? I activated my phone on 2/27 and paid for 1 month of plan, so it should've unlocked per the original policy. But it's still locked.
If I do need 2 months of paid plan, do they need to be consecutive months? I ported my number back to my original phone so I don't even have a number on the iPhone 13 anymore.
If I do need another month of plan do I need to port the same number in again, or can I pay for the plan but not port any number? I have another phone plan so I don't need to use this iPhone 13 until it's unlocked.
Same as everyone else. They want a second month. Offered the 10 dollar plan. This you have to call them to get. It's not on the website for you to diy
What customer service number did you call? Did they say if it has to be 2 months of continuous service, or will it unlock after your 2nd month ($10 plan)?
I called the Total Wireless unlocking department and they would not honor the original policy (automatic unlock 60 days after activation). They said even though I activated my device before the April 1 unlocking policy change, I have to buy another month of service to unlock. The unlocking department rep told me the cheapest plan is the $40/month plan which is unlimited talk, text, and data. I confirmed that it doesn't need to be 60 days of continuous service; 1 more month of service will qualify for automatic unlocking.
Afterwards, the unlocking department rep transferred me to a costumer service rep. I was told the cheapest 1 month plan that would satisfy the unlocking requirement is $10/month for unlimited talk and text (no data). I already ported my number out, so I asked to be given a new number.
Hopefully my phone will unlock by the end of May. I'm really bummed that they baited and switched with the unlocking policy change, but at least $10 for another month isn't horrible (assuming it does unlock). Fingers crossed.
Same here, activated on 2/27, I got three conflicting information:
rep told me $10 per 7 days, not a month.
another rep told me $40/month is the cheapest
third rep told me there is a $10/month, at this point i already purchased the $40/month..
Lastly, since I let the second month (60d) lapse, i need to restart my activation for a total of two more months as the first activation will not carry over. It feels like this specific thread was targeted in regards to the policy change since most people would not have not paid the second month of service.

I'm in a similar situation. I did my first 30 days with TW with a paid $65 plan, and just after 30 days I ported out my number. I figured, after initial activation, it'd be unlocked after 60 days. When I found out about the paid 60 days requirement, I hastily bought another $65 plan, ported a new number and figured that was sufficient. I'm told by redditors that because I ported out the phone after 30 days, it reset the "unlock clock" and that I'll probably need to buy another month after this second month. I guess we'll see...
