I never thought I would spend much more than $100 on a blender but after going through 2 Ninja bases and our 3rd container lid broke I started researching for an upgrade. I learned Vitamix and Blendtec are really proud (price wise) of their appliances. Also learned folks who purchase them feel they are worth the extra up front cost for durability and better results. I found the Propel 750 for $200 off MSRP and while it's still (IMO) stupid expensive it seems like a good sale price.

It's the same price on the Vitamix site as well. I just opted for Amazon because using their card gives better rewards and Prime overnight shipping.

I had a large yogurt container of a smoothie (kale, spinach, avocado, banana, apple, carrot, blueberry, yogurt) made from the weekend in our old Ninja. This is a "thick" style eaten with a spoon by our son. I poured it into the Vitamix and gave it a whirl. It almost immediately whipped it from a dark greenish blend with obvious fine pieces of carrot, kale, blueberry, etc to a solid green paste. I can't believe the look and texture change. It went from gritty to creamy. Our son said the change is very noticeable.
I make smoothies for my wife and a friend staying with us using the same ingredients. They like them drinkable so I add some water. Both of them texted me about how much better the new smoothies taste (really feel). Our friend said she used to have to choke them down but it's so much easier to drink now.
Add me to the list of Vitamix owners who wish they splurged on one long ago.
