RTINGS Review - https://www.rtings.com/monitor/re...d-pg32ucdp

PC Gaming 9.2/10
Quote :
The ASUS ROG Swift OLED PG32UCDP is outstanding for PC gaming. It has a near-instantaneous response time that results in crisp motion and low input lag for a responsive feel. Its near-infinite contrast ratio and perfect black uniformity are ideal for dark room gaming, and blacks look deep and inky. It also has a 240Hz refresh rate, so motion looks extremely crisp, and it feels very responsive. Additionally, this monitor has a 1080p @ 480Hz mode, which is outstanding for esports and competitive gaming. One downside is its noticeable VRR flicker in dark scenes with changing frame rates, though it has a VRR flicker reduction system that reduces flicker at the expense of added stuttering.
And compared to the Alienware 32" that many have...

The Dell Alienware AW3225QF and the ASUS ROG Swift OLED PG32UCDP are both 32-inch 4k OLED gaming monitors. The ASUS is a better option if you plan to use the monitor for office work, as it has a KVM switch, delivers up to 90W of power over USB-C, and has better text clarity. The ASUS is also better if you want the most responsive feel, as it has a 1080p @ 480Hz mode. However, the Dell is better if you want more vivid colors.

I'm not seeing that when comparing to this MSI monitor with lower brightness

Seeing the opposite actually. Brighter = better response time.

Are you concluding that this Asus is the better choice as it is brighter with a better response time?

It's what I'm seeing. Unless I'm overlooking something.

just wanted to say that I got this monitor for Christmas, and it is fantastic! Excellent colors, great response times, easy to wall mount with their included kit.

It has USB PD for connecting your laptop, and full KVM functionality for up to three USB ports. Also has SPDIF output, so if you have a desk desktop dac then it will switch audio when you switch the video.

If you're considering the purchase and want to know more about it, feel free to reply to this

Any recommendations on an OLED gaming monitor that doesn't have VRR flicker issues? I've never owned one so I don't know how noticeable and impactful to the viewing experience it is - thank you!

Man, this is such a conflict for me. There are no monitors that are like this but with a glossy finish.

None. VRR flicker is an OLED problem, they all have it

Asus has two identical models — one with glossy finish and QD-OLED screen (PG32UCDM), and one with matte finish and WOLED screen (PG32UCDP). Apart from the differences that panel technologies offer, they are otherwise the same specification wise (except for the fact that the QD-OLED version has Dolby Vision support). In fact they are visually indistinguishable from each other.

BestBuy doesn't have the "M" version unfortunately, but Amazon does and had a "Like New" for $1025 so I ordered that for delivery tomorrow. I really wanted to go somewhere and see one (any OLED) before buying, but BB around me only has the LG OLED and it's WOLED, not QD-OLED and from what I read, QD-OLED would be best for general usage (no gaming) in Windows (text clarity, color accuracy and HDR/SDR brightness). Thanks for the clarification between the models.

I ordered the "M" version of the monitor and think the first thing I need to do is update the firmware. How is that done?

there is an included USB a to B cable intended for the built-in USB hub/KVM. I believe it runs with the connection through that, and the utility was on the manufacturer website.

Search the official site with your specific monitor. Should be a software you need to download and a separate firmware file to load it into the software.

Driver update is easier. Download the driver file on the official site then windows device manager > monitor > right click your monitor and update driver.

Probably will have to do both firmware and drivers.

Can someone tell me why this monitor costs more than my gaming laptop?
