I'm not getting into a pissing contest when you asked "Why would anyone buy this" and I answered Mr. Caps lock

In for one, may regret it when 50 series deals come online next month. Will circle back when it arrives with build quality. Couldnt find much online. I plan on trying to get it to 32GB of ram and adding another SSD. It's hard to build this for cheaper.

Oops, my mistake. Thought it had the same vram as the desktop version.

50 Series chips being widely available soon sounds like wishful thinking if you ask me.

I wouldn't worry about missing the 5000 series next month; the mobile 5060 & 5070 are sticking to the same 8 GB VRAM as the 4060 & 4070 and are looking like that will be only mild improvements speed wise, similar to how the desktop 5080 has turned out to be only a tad faster than the desktop 4080.

Why would anyone buy a no name gaming laptop when the big name prices are not that far off. I need a solid warranty when purchasing a gaming laptop. I see no reviews on this laptop at any retailer.
This is a white label brand, like Eluktronics. The OEM is Chinese maker TongFang.

Probably going to continue having supply issues for at least 6-8 months. This is a great purchase if you need one now.

This is a Tongfang. They've been around for a while and are quite reputable. You've probably seen them under the Eluktronics / Walmart "EVOO" brand and many others.
Skytech has also been around for a bit. No idea how their warranty is though.

I think this is a good deal but I'm not familiar with the manufacturer. If it's not a good deal then let me know now so that I can cancel my order!

I just searched on the company's website for the driver / manual pages and turned up absolutely nothing. Seems pretty risky to me for the minimal savings over other brands if that doesn't exist.

is this skytech's first laptop? i see their desktop deals many times, dont really see much complaint iirc
I've never seen a skytech laptop before. I own a desktop and their customer service, at least, is 11/10.

The RTX 4070 GPU here only has 8gb instead of the usual 12. Kind of weird....
Every laptop GPU is gimped compared to it's desktop counterpart.

The laptop 4090 is equivalent to a desktop 4080.

The laptop 4070 falls between a desktop 3060 TI & 3070 in performance.
