You can go thru Costco or Sams club if youre a member. Saves you the $35 fee and you can earn up to a $100 gift card for upgrading.

Seems like Simple Choice does qualify and gets you up to $500 trade in value.
Unfortunately t mobile charges $30 extra on phones (apple sells ip16 for 800 and t mobile for 830.
T mobile also asked for $35 connection charge.
This extra $65 surcharge makes it less appealing ☹️

Did you buy from the Metro store and get the new iPhone 13 right away? Thx!

So you can get an iPhone 13 by just porting a number and paying $75. There is no ongoing costs for a few months related to the metro phone line?

dumped T Mobile after they arbitrarily raised rates on my legacy Magenta plan (after their marketing push saying they would never raise rates - remember that BS?). Went from paying $120/month down to $50/month w Visible and never looked back. They started nickel and diming customers in the past few years as well with BS charges such as $35 to swap your existing sim card to a new phone (even if you do it yourself), removing the autopay discount for credit card payments, and many more small changes that added up to a significantly higher monthly cost. I was a customer for the better part of 20 years but now I don't recommend them.

Visible has their unlimited plan on the Verizon network for $25/month with a 2 year price lock in, no hidden fees and taxes included.
I had horrible MVNO deprioritization experience in major urban areas years ago (ATT MVNO). Is it any better?

I understand only the T-Mobile prepaid (not mint) doesnt de-prioritize its service.

Why on earth would a company set up to make money offer you an instant discount so you could just cancel and walk away? Makes no sense.

T-Mobile will unlock your iPhone temporarily for one month if you are traveling international. Just call them, I did. If you need it extended after the first month, you need to call T-Mobile customer service again.

I did this on all my lines and 2 of them are on EIP.

Reading the comments about unlocking the phone temporarily to add a data eSim for international travel is not possible? That's a deal breaker for me. I thought t-mobile would allow for the travel period. Anyone else has experience with T-mobile on this?

If you buy at Costco, they are locked until you pay off the EIP.

They let you keep your ancient cheap plan, and they dont have to do that given theyve already raised prices on everyone.

Carriers have always only paid to acquire new customers. I don't like it either. Switch to another carrier/mvno every 2 years and play the game.

Otherwise, you buy the new phones as the cost of getting a better monthly price than current plans.

Not anymore. When was last time you did this?
Some folks report they got lucky with reps that allowed the unlock. However, many more report it was denied and officially it's now against policy. See my posts 2 above, i directly messaged T-Mobile.

It sucks. See my post directly above. It's hit or miss whether a rep grants it to you or not. officially iphones are not allowed anymore.
T-mobile gets crappier by the year...

So far no issues. I believe they have a higher tier plan with full Verizon bandwidth and no deprioritization for $35/month if that's a concern.

This is for many of us who dont see the additional $500 discount (24months monthly credit) at the checkout and on their receipt.
I spoke to the rep and she had said it wont be reflected on your receipt/contract/agreement but once the phones are activated, monthly credit will be applied. They have it noted internally and anyone who upgraded during this period are qualified.

Worked perfect on Magenta Max.

I currently have an iPhone 16, but wanted to upgrade to 16 Pro. I went to Metro and got an iPhone 13 for $75 by porting in a burner line. Then used that 13 as the trade with TMo.

For the 16 Pro, was ~$120 due today and I'll owe $170 paid across 24 months. Add the $75 for the 13 from Metro, and I'm in the hole for about $365. I'll then sell my unlocked iPhone 16 for at least $577 on Swappa.

They let you keep magenta max as well? I am reading conflicting information that they are forcing you to upgrade to the go5g whatever which costs more.

This is such an odd policy. I wonder the "reason"
because there is no temp unlock for iPhones.
this was the 'glitch' several years ago. people would call up tmobile and ask for a temp lock but that would fully unlock the iPhone

How much does per line cost on newer plans? I pay $25 per line in simple choice plan. Is it worth upgrading to avail offers like these?
