Unfortunately t mobile charges $30 extra on phones (apple sells ip16 for 800 and t mobile for 830.
T mobile also asked for $35 connection charge.
This extra $65 surcharge makes it less appealing ☹️

Not bad at all. Just not sure I picked the right color. Always had a dark phone out picked the pro max white….guess we will see.
I could get $170 for my iPhone 12 from the Apple store. I'm really only saving $435 from T-Mobile since they charge $35 connection fee and $30 more for the phone. So it's $265 difference for a locked iPhone for 24 months.
I went to Apple store retail , we couldn't find the promos listed on their device.

She got like 140 5 lines, 5 new phones (3x16 pro,1x15plus,1xs25 plus) she traded in a bunch of devices but still superb offer
Carriers have always only paid to acquire new customers. I don't like it either. Switch to another carrier/mvno every 2 years and play the game.
Otherwise, you buy the new phones as the cost of getting a better monthly price than current plans.

It will not be through Costco. Costco kiosk told me the same for a simple choice, but try through the T-Life App on your phone. I was able to do the trade-in upgrade that way (simple choice plan). Forgoing the Costco GC and paying the activation fee, but that was just bonus.
I was satisfied getting $500 for a 13 that needed replacement (160 immediately and remaining as bill credits).
