$250 travel credit has to be spent through their terrible portal, which is just a Hopper re-skin and routes reservations through 3rd parties (my last was an Expedia reservation). Most costs for the portal are higher than if you have an account with 3rd party sites like Booking, Agoda, or Priceline and CapOne will NOT match a logged-in price. There is no telephone customer service for booking.
Pros: Eno vendor specific CC numbers with number cancellation and holds are great for online signups
2 points per dollar spent and direct reimb. for travel using points at 1pt=1c is essentially a 2% cash back card if you travel
No foreign tx fees (for those who travel internationally)
If you travel a little, it's a good card. If you travel more than 3-4 times a year, especially if your preferred airport has a CapOne lounge, the VentureX is a better product to have ($395AF), but this is a good stop gap with a solid bonus.

every promotion that comes up, flood of denials comments get posted. its simple, if you opened more than 1 CC in 12 month, high chance are you will be denied. doesnt matter 800+ credit score. no point calling in, computer approves or denies.
as for customer service. 1st AMEX. 2nd CO. 3. Chase.
CO has never let me down yet. from disputes, to finding my reservation, price match, events, can not complain.
big down side, their partnership with Priority pass is kinda Meh. they are trying to expand, but not many locations especially at busy airports ie LGA LAX LAS JFK. Best lounge exp i had was at ICN.
If you travel more than 3/4 times a year (i forgot the math, might be less), i think its better upgrade to Venture X. yearly 300 travel bonus, tsa 4 years, and 2x instead of 1.25 on money spent (might have changed to 2x).
wish i could get some referal points
good luck everyone
Previously the Venture card has, for many years, offered 2 free passes to airport lounges per year. It was a small benefit that was really nice to use a couple times a year.
For me, it made the annual fee bearable. Very surprised to travel this weekend and learn that I no longer had access to lounges with my Venture card, and would need to pay $45/person to walk into a lounge. I checked my email, and Capital One never sent notification of the downgrade in benefits.
I'll be cancelling the card and moving on.
C
but 75k miles is equivalent to $375
cash/statement credit redemption = 1:0.5 cent
travel redemption (flight/rental car etc) = 1:1 cent

Also, any news on a similar bonus being added to new Venture X applicants? ie extra $250 credit...thinking it's just a matter of time before that goes live too? TIA
Wow 30 cards? I need to catch up
