Target also has it for $999. I found a Target Circle offer in my account for 10% off one item until March 1st. Brings it down to $899

Great deal. Bought ours during BF 2023. Pro tips: The 'intelligent' grind can be turned off in settings, then it reverts to a preset grind time in seconds (e.g. 23 seconds). This ensures consistency and lets you make subtle adjustments once familiar with process. Use single wall doubleshot basket, Preheat portafilter, wipe dry, grind, tamp twice, brew (suggest selecting increased water amount from default to get 1.5oz shots), set brew temp to +2 or +3 above default; for latte art use whole milk +6 foam, 160 degrees. Favorite value subscription is Intelligentsia black cat "analog" variety - about $17 bag freshly delivered every 2 weeks.

For those with a Capital One account, their online shopping portal has 6% cashback at Macy's and 10% cashback at PC Richard's. Macy's has more locations so easier to return if you don't like it. They also have a less restrictive return policy for those not sure they will keep it after trying.

I am in the market for Breville Barista Touch. I was hoping to get it for around 700 like what the price was in December last year.

Should I get the impress. In ny research I did not find much differences in touch va impress except the integrated tamping. I am by no means an expert and this or touch would be my 1st espresso machine.

Would want to wait for touch if I can save a couple hundred dollars. But if people can tell me this is worth it in that extra couple hundred, I may be inclined to pull the trigger
Thoughts?

I think the auto tamping with grind size suggestions and the general "walk you through it" approach is well worth getting this, especially if it's your first machine. Unless you're looking to tinker a bunch, this should make pulling good shots and making drinks quite a bit easier to do consistently

Check your local Marshall, HomeGoods and TJ max, you might find some at 50% off. YMMV.

Have you found an Impress at these stores? My understanding is that they are usually the regular models, not Impress.

You are correct. They only have the regular express and express impress at stores.

Given how much mess I make trying to dial-in my espresso shot with a bottomless portafilter, tamper etc, this is a solid advice.

Have this. Paid $1k a year ago. Use it daily. Works great. Highly suggested for someone new to this stuff. Only downside to me but some might consider it a upside, there is no wifi.

I do plan to one day put together a Gaggiuino that I can hack around with.

I have the Breville Express. It's excellent. I haven't tried this model but I don't know why it's worth the $400+ premium of the Express which goes for $600ish. A double boiler is overrated as expresso brews in 26 seconds. That's more than fast enough for home brewing.

I have had this Touch Impress model for about a year now. For me, it has been amazing with no issues whatsoever. The self-guided tamping feature is great and since it's not automatic, there are less things to go wrong. Really takes all of the guesswork out of making a shot.

I see the other machines, and I cannot imagine needing to weigh the beans, weigh the shot and time it etc etc. This thing does everything mostly by itself. It handles the right amount of grind, the right amount of "pull" (I am at 29-31 seconds) and it tastes amazing. One thing is that it does require a good quality bean, which is less than 30 days old. You will be surprised how stale most of the bags are... This machine shows it right away and you will find yourself throwing many brands away until you find what you like. And once you do .........
