Way cheaper than Raspberry Pi+case+power supply+SD, and this can actually emulate up to PS2/GC. I think I'm in! 🎮

Is this good for PFSense? I'm guessing its not Intel NIC
8GB RAM and 128GB drive should be plenty for my PF Sense needs for my house.

With just a dual ethernet port, this may be a limiting for pfsense if you need more than single VLAN

Good price to play around. Maybe install ProMax & shift my HomeAssistant a/o PiHole over

Worst: Set it for emulation

Im no expert but dont you just send all the VLANs out over the one port and let a managed switch route vlans to certain ports? Also AP should get all VLANs over one port then can broadcast separate VLANs over separate SSIDs?

I'm actually in the process of trying to figure out how to get my pfsense vlans to play with an openwrt router.

May still be doable with a good WiFi router that can do guest network as second vlan

This is true but I think we would need more ports if we intend to have more VLAN's.
In my head, I atleast need three VLAN's (Main network, guest network and IOT devices).

I just ordered 4 port 2.5Gbps mini PC from Aliexpress for $140 (N150 w/ barebone support for DDR5).

These have 2x RealTek RTL8111h LAN ports, so not the best for pfSense or OPNsense. You can still use either firewall, but you'll have to install some special kmod drivers. See this fellow's tutorial: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V9SNPBUNiXU

So thats what I am currently setting up (Main/guest/iot), but if each VLAN has its own physical interface then I think you would need 3 separate APs per coverage area which doesn't make sense - lots of conflicting channels, much more costly (although old equipment would be fine for guest/iot APs). I'd let one AP do all the work (assigning vlans to ssids), and then get a managed 2.5g/10g switch to deal with separating out the vlans to different physical ports.

More ports on the actual firewall box isnt a bad thing, I just dont think its absolutely necessary. It could save you from having to buy another managed switch depending on your setup.
