Being a regular Sam's Club shopper, I have always been tempted by this. However, I have not bought this so far because this is not sufficient to run 15amp tools such as table and miter saws which are typical shop or garage tools.

This is a very handy extension so long as it's used within spec. Lightweight, so you can quickly roll out the full 50 feet without tangles. The problem that I've encountered with two of them, if you even get close to that 13A spec you trip the breaker and it basically melts, rendering the whole unit useless. If you go for one of these, aim to keep it to 1200W or less.

Why is the colors always bright yellow (neon) or orange?

I get probably for safety reasons (to see the cord for tripping) but just for a home application, it would be nice to see a black on black version so it's more aesthetically pleasing to have this hung in a home environment.
