Assuming all the downvotes are from Tesla drivers who now hate Elon, but maybe it's because of the $120/mo for 100mb down and 20mb up. That seems like highway robbery imo. Thumbs up on the deal for those in BFE though.

If we think the $499 pricing will still be active when REI has their 20% off sale, it might be better to wait until that sale presuming the coupon works on this (I'm not sure if it does though).

$499 - 20% = $399

And you can make it even better using gift card deals if you still have discounted gift cards waiting for a purchase

Depends what your use case for this is. It's extremely costly if you are paying for this every month.

It's not terrible if you are just activating this for 1 month at a time here or there

I have Starlink and maintain a regular subscription. I agree that the price is high compared to gig speeds that are half the cost. I keep the service because of the inconsistent power grid where I live. A quick blip can turn to hours of down time, which can be detrimental for WFH or homeschooling. The price is high and the speed is low but to me it's been a worthwhile cost.

May I ask when REI 20% off will start? And how do we know if these two discounts will stack?

The members 20% off sale will be in march, i'm not sure of the exact date but the REI reddit sub may have that info

I don't know if the coupon will work on it. The coupon always has exclusions but sometimes there are loopholes. For example - you're not supposed to be able to use the coupon on the DJI Mini 2 SE drone that REI sells, but the coupon worked last time and I bought one

Perhaps you should infer that the downvotes are caused by Musk having a "Poor Merchant Reputation"?

Anyone performing a conspicuous "Roman" salute [reddit.com] with such passion and vigor [reddit.com] is deserving of an infamous reputation, correct? Or are you saying it's okay to support the owner of a business that promotes such a vile and dangerous ideology? I'm still amazed and disgusted Musk apparently paid no price for such a despicable display and got away with it; America has truly fallen a long way...

Probably the best emergency comm system you can get. The down votes are by people who clearly don't care about emergency comms for people in danger. I have one and want a second one. You can get 10gb for $10 a month, with option to buy more gigs as needed. Or get a higher rate plan and pause it. Nothing beats this in an emergency. For full time internet, you need to look at location and cost. It might also be the only option. But hey, down vote success and cutting edge technology at a great price. For an NGO or emergency response, this is the long range option to back-up ;oca; short range communicatipons.
