Big initial deposit required, but banks paying 4.3% on savings typically do not pay sign-up bonuses. Getting both a good rate and SUB is nice, and unusual.
No direct deposit games - nice. Finally, a bank that doesn't care where the money comes from.
The risk here is that you have to keep $5k in for 60-90 days to get the 4.3%, but CIT can lower the rate in that timeframe. However, CIT has historically had good rates on this account for quite a while - not at the very top of what is available, but certainly within shooting distance of the top. I would expect them to remain competitive.

So, let me get this straight. I deposit $50k, on which the bank earns interest elsewhere, and I get a bonus of....0.6%?? (and pay taxes to Uncle Sam on top)?

I mean you can always invest your $50k in other assets such as stocks or crypto, for hopefully more returns, but they also come with risks. Here you get the bonus and a steady 4.3% APY (until the feds lower interest rates again).

I've been pretty happy with my savings account. Transfer from my checking at Chase reflects usually next business day. I tried to transfer money out of Cit Bank and they gave me an offer of 4.75% APY for 12 months and I took it. Well, not exactly guaranteed, but I think it's a guaranteed bump of .333% apr.

I also tried to transfer out about a week ago and was offered an increase for 12 months but I'm only at 4.641% and not 4.75. I wonder why you are receiving a higher rate.

Did you try to transfer whole or certain portion of the money?

Just a portion. I just called them and was told the 4.641 is the 4.75APY, it just isn't showing under the last statement APY since I just had the change applied this month

The language is quite shifty, is what I was trying to say. There's the savings rate (which you're alluding to) and there's the 'bonus' (which I am talking about).
High Yield Savings for 4.1--4.5% can be had through many online banks at a much, much, much lower capital than 25k!!! Most do not ask for 50k as opening deposit to give you 4ish %savings rate.
The 'bonus' is a different beast and completely misleading, in that it's really not. You're giving the bank 50k and getting only 0.6% back after two months.
THAT is heresy, but then we are talking about financial institutions, so par for the course.

True, but here is how I look at it. If I have $50k that I don't want to take any risks on (i.e. don't want to put it on the market), I would put it in a HYSA which would give me 4.3% interest (average is less than 4% for most HYSA banks). Now, let's say, Bank A gives me 4.3% interest and nothing else, and Bank B gives me 4.3% interest on the same money but also gives me a $300 bonus for keeping the money there for 2 months. I mean if I don't need my $50k for 2 months, then why will I not go for Bank B for the $300 free money along with the usual 4.3% rate?
As I said, you can get better returns elsewhere, but it comes with risks.

APR which I guess equates to the 4.75 APY so it was my misunderstanding
