Discover Card is offering Discover Cardholders: 5% Cashback Bonus at Grocery Stores and Wholesale Clubs

Steps:
Go to Discover.com and login to your account
Go to the Cashback Calendar page or click on link below
Click "Activate Now" for the offer

https://www.discover.com/credit-c...endar.html

*The Cashback Bonus shown on the tracker is based on your posted transactions for the quarter and may be different than on your statement, which shows the rewards added to your Cashback Bonus account during that particular billing period. The tracker does not include any Cashback Bonus earned through additional promotional offers. Rewards will be added to your Cashback Bonus account within 2 billing periods. We may make adjustments to reduce your Cashback Bonus based on your account activity, such as the return of a purchase or a reward disbursed by us in error.
You activated to earn 5% Cashback Bonus at Grocery Stores and Wholesale Clubs from 4/1/25 (or the date on which you activate 5%, whichever is later) through 6/30/25, on up to $1,500 in purchases.
Grocery Store purchases include those made at supermarkets, meat lockers, bakeries, smaller grocery stores, and grocery delivery services. All purchases made from Walmart or Target are not eligible. Purchases from convenience stores and discount stores may not qualify.
Check with your Wholesale Clubs to make sure your Discover Card is accepted. Purchases of affiliated Wholesale Club services, such as delivery services, travel, and cell phone purchases, may not be eligible in this category. Individual merchants and stand-alone stores within physical Wholesale Club locations, or online, may not be eligible in this category.

Costco does not accept Discover cards online anymore. It's been more than a year I think.

Funny story. I was at Costco some time ago tried to use my Amex and nope. Only Visa! The manager told me. She then said Amex wanted us to increase membership fees that's why we went with Citi. Yet their membership fees keep going up!

I thought that was the laziest lie ever. lol. So no discover is not accepted period! Just like Amex and any Mastercard.

This is one of the reasons I stopped shopping at Costco and chose Sam's Club is that they accept any credit card: Amex, Discover, MasterCard, etc. It's also not overcrowded and almost no lines due to Scan & Go. In addition, membership fees is cheaper.

😂 why?

The last quarter of the year is usually for Target and Amazon.

We should put the hurt on Discover to make them play nicer. Get the American Express BCP card.

ALL YEAR: 6% grocery stores, 6% Streaming Subscriptions & 3% Gas Stations.

1st year free then $95/year. Easily pays for itself (for me & my family anyway).

Earn $250 back after you spend $3,000 in purchases on your new Card within the first 6 months.

Get someone who has one to send you a referral link. The bonus could be higher and they should get a bonus too.
BCP is great, but the 6% on groceries is only on the first $6000 each year. I know not everyone exceeds that, but we usually go over by a bit so having 5% back from Discover for a couple months is still useful for us.

Yes, sometimes having both helps. Reminder: Discover limit is the same on an annual basis; $1500 per quarter.

Chase got rid of their Freedom card that also had rotating 5% cashback, so Discover It is the only game in town with this kind of card, as far as I know.
Wait, Chase got rid of their Freedom Flex card? That's their 5% rotating card. I know they replaced the original Freedom with the Freedom Flex, is that what you mean? I just checked the Chase site and they're still taking applications for the Flex.

Ahh, I am mistaken I didn't know they replaced it with a new one.

This isn't a big deal for Costco because the PayPal Debit Card gets 5% back at Costco always. At least I can use this at BJs and Sam's Club.

Yeah, that's simply not true. It is all about credit card transaction fees that Amex/Visa etc charge the merchant.
I heard that amex protects their customers more diligently than other card issuers.

this is technically useless for wholesale now unless you shop at Sams or BJ.

This isn't news, Costco doesn't accept any outside card unless it's Visa

would it include sams club gasoline?
Pro tip: When shopping in Sam's Club, buy gift card (5% discover cashback), then use those gift cards at the gas pump. Also, you can use those gift cards at walmart, if you shop there and want the 5%.

Quote from FeistyBanana3459 :
Discover says they are accepted at 99% of businesses, are they lying?
Didn't you know costco was part of the 1%? Also, if you have any woodman's around, they ONLY take discover.

Quote from ketamine :
Also $7 back on $10+ streaming spending.

Anyway re: Discover, this 5% won't be around for many years, Capital One will definitely scrap it.
$7 back on $10 - what are you referring to there?
Discover - That would be really stupid, unless they're trying to lose customers. What else is discover good for? But anything's possible. It does seem that their gift card redemption deals have gotten a lot worse recently.
