I highly recommend this model with the insulated carafe—coffee stays hot for hours!

I have this and enjoyed it quite a bit for about 3 years. The insulated carafe is not the highest performing, but the coffee stays at a drinkable temperature for about 1.5-2 hours. After that, you might want to reheat, if that's your thing. In days I wanted the coffee to last, I transfered it to a vacuum insulated glass carafe and it's good for about 5-6 hours. Now I'm more about espresso so mine doesn't get used, and in fact, I put it in storage recently. But unlike most of such things, it's not bound for donation. I'll use it during holidays and when I want drip coffee.

Excellent coffee maker. It's about as good as it gets for drip.

Have had this for about a year. Best drip coffee maker on the market.

They have updated the carafe to a glass liner that stays hot for many hours and does not alter the taste from stainless or burning the coffee on a heated plate. Performs great and highly recommend this model.
This is great. Maybe I can upgrade and the old one can go to Goodwill after all

Agreed, superior to the glass carafe!

I bought the regular carafe before Christmas. After years of a leaky Bonavita and then two years of pour-over, I have got myself to a happy place with the following qualifications:

It does not wet the grounds evenly. Accept that you must hold a spoon under the first drippings and get the far side wet and then I get the grounds a little stir. 15 seconds of effort with night and day results. (from my prepurchase research I knew of this issue).

The bar that transfers the hot water stays wet and over time is going to get cruddy. It is cheap and even with filtered water is going to need regular vinegar soaks. Just something I'm not doing yet but....

With that said, and while I miss the zen of my pour-overs, this is a good way to go.
Knowing what you know now, would you still recommend this?

I've been using a Cuisinart Coffee 12 cup brewer for making large batches, but have to fiddle with letting the coffee bloom a bit before putting the craft in. Wondering, besides higher water temperatures, if it worth it over general coffee brewers.

I still use a Hario Switch (V60 with stopper) for smaller brews and a Bambino Plus for espresso or latte, so curious if it's worth having another coffee machine to replace the old Cuisinart.

Great coffee maker. It's my daily brewer and brews as good pour over imo. I weigh and grind beans prior to brewing. Temp is perfect for drinking. Not too hot. Coffee will stay hot in the carafe for 2 hours, but the taste starts to degrade after that anyway. Use filtered water and quality beans--medium to coarse grind. This is a great deal.

I've had a Moccamaster for over a decade now. Yes if you sit there and watch it, the grounds don't appear to get wet evenly. I've "assisted"it before- you can turn the basket on a pivot to distribute the water better, but it doesn't seem to make much of a difference for the finished product. There is also a replacement head you can buy from a third party that looks more like a shower head….not sure if it works better.

Bottom line for me, it makes good coffee when I pay zero attention to it and it has done so for over a decade so I'm pretty happy with it and would buy another if this one ever breaks.

Haha, yes the hardware does add up. This has a "half pot" setting which is supposed to slow the drip. I only use that but haven't tested it and generally make around 800 ml a pop. I also have been using paper filters and notice a change with that vs my permanent pour-over filter.

So for me it is worth it as long as you accept it is not pour over and "prewet the filter / stir the grounds". I change beans a lot so I am okay with a level of variation. It is quick, easy and simple. I definitely recommend it. Not really much there for $200 though if you have what you need. But if you are in the market, I am happy I went with this brand.

How does this compare to the ninja coffee bar that I currently have. Do I want this?

Thank you both for the information and advice. Ended up grabbing this while its still available at this price, especially since it has the larger thermal craft without the heating element.

Nope. Closest thing that'll yield the same density of ca phe is maybe a mokapot but at that point it's the same effort as using a phin
