It should, but remember that this stuff has to be heat annealed at 450 F so parts that don't get super hot won't last as long. Like the feet of a fire pit or grill. For me, the heated parts have lasted for years but I have to respray the legs every year

I've done a few sets of brake hats (the rusty part of the disc) and it works great! If you plan ahead and do it before installation, you can also use it on the inner surface to prevent the rotors rusting to the hubs.

Anyone with experience think this would work well on the hood of a freestanding fireplace? (looks something like a carousel)?

Can I buy NOW for the price savings (nearly half off vs HomeDespot at $6.98), and store for like 4-6years until the next vehicle brake drum replacement? I would spray paint the exterior of new brake drum, so it doesn't rust. But, this realistically won't happen for 4-6 years, as I just replaced the rear shoes & drum on a Prius.
Found it. This Rustoleum product has a 5yr shelf life. https://www.rustoleum.com/-/media...06A173.pdf

The biggest weak point I've ever had with long term storage are associated with cans with an exposed stem. I've had even relatively new cans crack, and it's always part of the consideration I make when using an older can: can I make it to the end of the given touch up if this can goes south the south?

Good luck!

You mean it has to be baked after spraying? The grates on my cooktop are starting to lose their finish, but I did some research and appliances are sprayed with porcelain enamel, something not readily available to consumers.

Keep in mind that these finishes aren't food safe, nor designed to come in direct contact with open flames.

(Yet there are people who don't RTFM, proceed to paint the inside of their fireplaces, then leave bad reviews with pictures when the stuff flakes off. Can't fix stupid.)

They're specified for applications like the exterior of grills and stoves; for appearances, not function.

The two 1200F High Heat (flat) and High Heat Ultra (semi-gloss) paints don't specify curing in the data sheets. The spray versions are multi-coat, while the brush on versions are single coat.

The 2000F High Heat Automotive paint does require three separate baking processes to cure.

If in doubt, consult the data sheets.

Replacement grates are probably the best option, if available. Fancy high heat coatings that can stand up to heat, flames, and more demanding applications aren't cheap.

Good call, for full hardness, 450 for 1hr.!!! I didn't know this about their specialty high heat sprays.

Side note,
"heat cured" for anyone wanting the common term, as annealing is specific to metal and glass.
