I've seen a lot of reports about Boox devices randomly breaking while sitting unused on tables and then support claims it was user caused damage and won't warranty them. I don't think I would consider buying one of these unless they offer a warranty that covered accidental damage, and then I'd factor that in to the price. There have been a lot of people looking to buy ereaders recently with Amazon's changes, and Boox's quality control and predatory warranty gateways seems to be hindering their customer adoption rate.

how does this not have a stylist built in, it would be a neat idea to use like a sticky note to take notes also. hope v2 comes out with one

While I have no issues with my Boox Nova 3 since 2020, it's definitely a small company with not much tech support. I think my unit was shipped from China. Main reason why I wanted to switch from my Kindle was because I wanted an Android based eReader. 5 years later, mine is still kicking and I use it nightly.

Both. I've read through like 4 books in the past few months so I am reading more. It does cut down on my phone time to a degree, I've got it next to my bed so in the mornings sometimes I'll grab it instead of my phone. I might read or I might just use the browser to check stuff, but I figure it's a bit more gentle on my eyes being e-ink. Plus I can't end up on youtube or scrolling through tiktok so I'm usually reading an article or something else that I consider generally positive.

I do love my version 1 - just be aware that you will have to tinker for a good browser (e-ink bro)

I like reading newsletters on the Gmail app, using KO reader to pull books from my calibre library, and even listening to music (helpful due to the larger battery)

This thing is great for travel!

Id actually be interested if they made this a phone as well. Been looking to go the minimal route with my phone and like the idea of these e-reader screens.

I've got one of these and am glad I bought it. It works well as an e-reader that can do Kindle books as well as news apps, Reddit, browser, Substack, etc. I like it for reading before bed with less visual stimulation than my phone. It isn't great as a general purpose Android device, though. It forces apps to sleep so doesn't reliably run background processes like alarms, and will stop playing audio (like audiobooks) after a few minutes if put into standby. The settings are not intuitive to navigate but well suited to an e-reader. In short, recommended if looking for a small, extra capable reading device, but not if you want a fully functional phone-like device with an e-ink screen.

I guess the appeal is the form factor. Being able to carry it in your pocket and to mimic the feel of a phone in your hand
