I think the iPhone 13 deals recently posted are a much better choice for most. Seach SD

If you are interested, please refer to a previous expired deal for how to handle this deal to maximize your return. Sorry as being at my current Slick Deals learner level, I don't know how to revive that expired deal. The previous deal's top comments link is here, kudos to @unsmart3d:

Is this one of those deals that you can pay off immediately or not?

Just curious since she prefers this size phone and definitely needs a newer phone than her current iphone 8, which had gotten tossed in the lake.

We're currently with verizon, so I'd want to just upgrade her line.

Thank you in advance to anyone with suggestions and ideas for accomplishing this for us.

Available at Straighttalk for $150. Not sure how this 36-months thing works.

Will this work on Verizon prepaid plans or is it only for the higher priced plans ? Clicked on the link but it doesn't say either way.

Those are $250ish? Good value. But $100 is much cheaper.

Perfect phone for the kids who are likely to break or lose it eventually.

Attempting this deal currently, I like how it's basically Karen-ing your way out of the contract after paying off the phone.
I ordered a 13 from the metro deal and just want this one to unlock in 2 months to use while I wait the year for the 13 to unlock. (Coming from an iPhone 8)
I waited for a Monday at 9am to order thinking it would process asap. Took until 10:32 pm to get the "account email address" email. I just got thru all the day 2 steps on the community notes post by the end of day 1.
I feel like I can do the pay off step if I activate the phone thru the my Verizon app, but I'll wait till evening tomorrow just in case there's a delay with the phone. I'm excited, this hasn't been as complicated as it seemed.

I was starting to sweat a little, I called the customer service number (ending in 4966 in the thread) to pay off the device and it kept saying that it texted the device with a link. Also couldn't get the chat to work from the my Verizon app.

Turns out my payment method was somehow removed from my account after I put it in last night. Thinking about it, it looks like they changed some stuff in the app like adding a % completion for activation and paying my next bill, as well as the due date and amount for the bill. Also there's a lot of language saying you have to wait 30 days to pay off the device. Edit: It's all misleading!

But sure enough I re-added the payment info and all of a sudden the call to customer service worked. (Confirmed the number and pin, then said "pay off device") Edit: All with the automated system, no person so far

Looking forward to receiving the phone and doing the last step tomorrow to cancel. Too tired now. Have to try and find an H2O sim as my target doesn't have them. Feels worth it tho, I'm enjoying sticking it to Verizon!
Edit: Got a confirmation email for the payment instantly!

Ok. Just got my phone and found an H2O sim at a random small phone retailer. Unfortunately mine is "Locked Carrier: 2387 - US Verizon Locked Policy" on sickw, not flex policy. So the H2O sim didn't work. Guessing most or all phones nowadays won't be the flex policy version.

My next step is to unlock with Verizon normally then cancel the plan. I will leave the phone in the box "in a drawer" for the next 60 days. I'll post any further updates as an edit to this post.

My only slight worry is that cancelling today will affect my unlock, I'm only about 5% worried about that tho.

Total cost so far is $3.~ tax, $99 device pay off, $10 gamble on H2O sim from a random store. Just expecting to add whatever 3 days of Verizon service is.

Edit: Didn't realize the chat wasn't 24/7. Not able to cancel my service today without a rep. I'll have to go into Day 4 and pay the activation fee. I'll keep looking for a way for the next hour.

Edit: I thought I'd be able to cancel from the chat, however the chat would not send me to a live person so I decided to call. Actually scheduled a call and they called me so I didn't have to sit around on hold. Weird I got an indian guy, so not sure why the hours aren't 24/7. He was really good tho, didn't have to fight him on anything. I did make sure to turn on a slight Karen/Kevin mode, and whatever reasons I gave for cancelling were, "The agreement says I can cancel within 30 days" and "I decided I don't want the service". The annoying thing is that the call cutoff as he canceled for me. I did have to "allow" the modification of my account from a notification on the myverizon app as he did it, so anyone doing this should turn those notifications on just in case. The service is definitely dead, myverizon is showing a $100+ bill due in a month, but assume it will update. Expecting an activation fee charge, 4 days of service, maybe something else. I'll update with the total.
