love how apple gatekeeps external monitor support as a way to get ppl to upgrade.... so pathetic
m5 will support 3 displays and the lid closed... m6 will support 4 displays with lid open !

No, in the U.S. it is on the Honor System. I believe on the last page of check-out there is a notification box you check/agree stating you are eligible for the Edu discount. Outside of that, no verification needed or required,

m4 has center stage, better web cam, faster neural engine, 10-15 l% better overall performance, allows 2 ext and 1 internal display.

if none of that matters, this deal with more memory and storage will give you room as you grow

They do not. Directly soldered.

Also note that the "upgradeable storage" on the Mac Mini is not a standard SSD, you would need to buy a replacement storage module directly from Apple or eBay used and use special Apple software to "pair" the NAND to the controller.

Nice find. I'm using a M1 and haven't yet found a reason to upgrade. I'm not saying it performs the same, just more of a comment on how good the M series is.
