i actually still think m4 base at $899 is better value in terms of how people gonna use macbook air

Entry level M4 MacBook Air at Apple's Education store. $899 + tax and it'll easily handle all her school tasks. Drive is tight on storage, but most kids rely on their phones for that for photos/videos, so it's not a huge issue.

Then trade in for next yr. Instead of over paying.
M3 versions are a bit over priced this one is ok I guess but you won't get hired trade in values either. It's an ok deal.

You can also hack the mb and install 2tb of storage or more.

Between those 2 you're asking about, I'd choose the MBA with 24GB vs the MBP with 8GB, unless you need the additional HDMI port, SDXC slot, extra 1" (higher resolution) screen, and additional internal speakers that the MBP has.
