Called into T-Mobile today because I got a text saying my plan is increasing by $5/line since my older T-Mobile One plan has been the same price for 8 years. The rep told me that there is a targeted offer available to some older plans that started today 3/13/25. Bring your own device and get a free line. I had to pay $10 for a sim card, but they were able to credit me $10 to my account.

Worth a try to call in if you have an older plan. YMMV.

Correct..they moved (or the system did, actually) to the 9 line section of the plan...that is what has prevented me from adding another free line during these last few promos. It can be fixed, but takes a supervisor typically, to ensure your other lines stay free. Some claim the 9 line plan is cheaper per line, but I remain unconvinced its worth the hassle to straighten out a perfectly working plan with free lines, free HD vid promo, kickbacks on all lines and other settings, just to add another line I likely won't even use. I only use half of my free lines as it is...
I was nervous about this when I moved to the 9-12 line plan a couple of years ago, but it all worked out for what it's worth. I had 3 paid lines + 5 free lines at the time and at the time they had a BOGO deal running where you add a paid line and get a line free. The problem was that would bump me to 10 lines and as you know, T-Mobile has a max of 8 lines on a "normal" plan. Moving to 10 meant getting on the 9-12 line track, so it wasn't as straightforward and I was very concerned about both keeping the 5 free lines I had *and* the 20% off Insider Hookup I had. Much to my amazement, it all stuck. I now pay $128 for 10 lines on Magenta Max (for service....my bill is a bit higher because we also have home Internet and some phones where we did trade-ins and owe a couple bucks a month, etc. For completely unlimited 5G and 40GB of hotspot per month per line, I can't complain.

That said, I did try to get this free line (it showed up in the app for one of the lines on my plan) and they said no because I already have the other free lines and I didn't push back hard because I get increasingly nervous about the next rep screwing everything up with each additional free line I've added.

On the One plan, all taxes and fees are included. On my 3 free lines, $0 is $0, no taxes or telecom fees.

I did receive a text saying congratulating me on my new line and discount ID250259 with a link to a promo website for my plan. I saw the new number and this discount ID. The text took about 3 hours to arrive after speaking with the rep.

Did you opt for e-sim or physical sim?

Before panicking, this may be great news. Based on your description, you moved to a 9+ plan. Your promos were naturally unenrolled from your previous plan, so you got the text messages. Before reaching out to T-mobile, first make sure there is something to fix.

1) Log into your T-mobile account and check your service promotions.
2) a) If the free line promotions are there, there is nothing to fix.
2) b) If some promotions are missing, continuing monitoring your account for the next week. If they don't get added back by the system, reach out to T-Force and ask politely about your missing promotions. If they say they see it on their side, then that's normal and will show up for you eventually. If not, work with them to resolve it.
3) Review your next bills thoroughly.

By converting from 8 line to 9+ line plan, your bill should drop ~$50 (varies based on your other promotions) due to your original 5 free lines (~$10 per free line in the base 8 lines)

How is converting to the 9+ line plan drop your bill total? Please explain in basic terms.

dont understand why you care about this. you can move esim to another esim anytime. or esim to psim.

So if I forget, and sell the phone, will that person once they activate the phone, have the line on my account?

Did not have banner
Called anyway and was eligible I have 3 paid lines.

Thank you OP!
Did you just call and ask about a free line? Did you tell them you had the banner? Did you give them the discount code?

I didn't have a message about a free line. I am on a Simple Choice plan. I called and the TMO rep checked and got me hooked up for $10.67.

I have two paid lines and one Free on Us line from Sprint and one kickstart $40/month line. Can you get a free line now and later port the kickstart line out and replace the free line with the kickstart phone number line?

I am on the T-Mobile Kickstart plan and recently received a free line added to my existing plan. Initially, they placed it under a different plan, GO5G Plus, which I later discovered wasn't free. After contacting customer support, they attempted to move the free line to my existing plan and assured me that the promotion would be applied within one or two billing cycles. Good things is that I do see the new line is under my existing plan. However, I am unable to see the promotion in the app. Does it take 1-2 billing cycle to see?
I can confirm that if you are in old sprint kickstart plan (I have 2 paid line only), and you may still get the free line without changing the existing plan.

for those receiving the text with discount code, did you do esims or physical? It's been over 5 hrs and all I got was the order of the Physical SIMs. Nothing about new line but did receive an email about a new service agreement. My assumption is the line is not activate until you activate the sims to get the text or when the sims is shipped.
It's been over 36 hours for me and no shipping notification. Only emails are the terms and Your T-Mobile order payment has been processed
