Called into T-Mobile today because I got a text saying my plan is increasing by $5/line since my older T-Mobile One plan has been the same price for 8 years. The rep told me that there is a targeted offer available to some older plans that started today 3/13/25. Bring your own device and get a free line. I had to pay $10 for a sim card, but they were able to credit me $10 to my account.

Worth a try to call in if you have an older plan. YMMV.

I took a gamble. Called 611 and asked for the free line and mentioned the promo id. The rep spent 4 minutes checking the promo id and told me I qualified. (Simple Choice 4 Family Plan). Paid $10+tax and having a pSIM shipped to me.

Currently have 4 lines + 1 free ($100+tax)

I really don't trust these reps from previous experiences. But let's see what happens.
Hi, wondering if simple choice plan is eligible for this free line, did you got the welcome text yet confirming the promo?

Judging from my previous dealings with HunterOne, he probably wants something that reads "This free line is NOT EVER, EVER EVER, eligible for the $500 Apple trade in promo, not even at effing Costco". Until then, he will keep posting everywhere that you can absolutely positively do both promos on the same line because Costco waved its magic wand.
Here's something specific:

https://www.t-mobile.com/account/promotions

In my account under My Promotions it shows under
Device Promos:
(999) 999-9999
Apple Trade ID250221
Enrolled ($XX.XX monthly credit)

That's the $500 Trade-in.

and under
Service Promos:
(999) 999-9999
Line Discount ID20259
Enrolled

That's the Free Line.

And here too:

https://www.t-mobile.com/account/cost-details

For the device:
(999) 999-9999

Voice line
Included in plan

Equipment
Unknown Device

Applied discounts and promotions:
$XX.XX Apple Trade ID250221

For the Plan:

Magenta® 1.0
$XXX.00/mo.
Applied discounts and promotions:

$25.00 Line Discount ID250259 (Additional Lines)

So far, all is in order, and also the Costco $100 gift card is on its way.
Now, if a year from now T-Mo removes the free line will deal with it then.
In any case, this is a disposable line in this account.

These cellular deals among all cellular providers are getting better and better by the month and year due to pretty strong competition and there's always the possibility to jump to another provider if T-Mo plays it hard.
BUT given the state of the fully saturated cellular market the only way for a cellular provider to increase its subscriber base is to steal it from another.
It's highly likely that T-Mo will not be in the mood of losing subscribers over a free line, and most likely it'll probably be giving out more free lines then to keep its customers.

I did not get a text. So I decided to call 611 and ask specifically if I qualify for the promotion and I was told 2 times that I was. As I said, I took a gamble. The SIM card has been shipped, but I have not seen anything on my account that reflects I have the promotion in my account.

It's always a PIA dealing with T-Mobile.

That's gold star worthy. You have it but you're admitting the possibility that it may not stick.

Let's just hope that everyone who does this based on your posts also considers their new line disposable.

You'll be fine. Glad to see that the new line is also free.
Yup! Thanks for the heads-up. I wish I had never called T-Mobile after the first rep added the free line, so I wouldn't have to go through this headache!

SERO/SWAC/Unlimited Advantage Pandora Premium mess: called this morning about missing PP on my account (got my plan UA and others back: Netflix, Apple TV+, Hulu) and the agent from 611 couldn't add it back on. He told me he wrote an email to a higher end department to explain my case for them to add it back on because he has no authority to do it. Got to wait 24 hrs or until Monday because of weekend.

Anyone has the phone # of the higher authority to do almost everything? Back to Sprint time there's a # to call to solve those problem but now it's T-mobile ...

The metropcs Samsung A9+ ($20) works fine with T-Mobile voice sim. no need for unlock. Apple ipad wont work because every providers can detect what it is. next option is get a Chinese brand 4G/5G tablet.
Tmobile won't detect the metropcs tablet as not being a phone? That's the best option for $20 if it works.

How do you change the number that was assigned by the phone rep? Thanks.
I ported a number from another carrier to change the number assigned to the free line. I don't think you can request a specific number outside of porting in. You may be able to request a different area code.

Hey, everything in life is YMMV, even with just this T-Mobile free line as many of the posts here attest.
One thing one can count in America is good old fashioned Competition!!!

Many of the people here at SD have probably gone from Verizon to Sprint to T-Mobile to AT&T to the various MVNOs and back around again!!!
Life in the competitive fast lane in this Great Country!!!

I have a T-Mobile ONE plan with taxes fees included, 3 paid lines with Kickback, and 4 free lines (all eligible for device upgrades, not BYOD). I did not get the price increase last time. I think the max number of lines on my plan code is 8, as the last time when there was a free BYOD line offer, I was doing a trial of T-Mobile Home Internet, which their Internet router has an internal data SIM and assigned phone number, so I didn't want to possibly push beyond 8 numbers.

Based on the comments here, I did call 611 and ask them to check if my account was eligible for the promo ID250259. She did go off for a few minutes and came back and said I'm eligible, and I verified with her I did not want any changes of my T-Mobile ONE plan to a different plan. Things got a bit shady then when she said she couldn't look up my plan code, and asked if she could temporarily switch me to a talk and text essentials plan to add the free line - to which I adamantly reiterated NO do not change my plan. Then she disappeared for a few more minutes, and finally came back and said she was able to add the free BYOD line.

I did opt for a physical SIM to be mailed, and was fine to pay $10 fee for the order, which the confirmation shows a BYOD physical sim. I do not see the 8th number looking online at my account yet, but it does show I'm still on my T-Mobile ONE plan, which is the most important. I think it does take a few days before the number and the promo ID to show up.

T-Mobile will detect the A9 tablet as an A9 tablet.
You can use it as a phone but that's a pretty big phone!
It's a very good tablet.

Really only interested in using the data. The concern is will T-Mobile limit speeds or kill the free line if you put the sim in a Metropcs A9+ tablet?

I did. The first representative denied it because I have more than two free lines. I tried again, and the second representative confirmed that my plan is eligible and added the line. I paid $10 and already saw the promotion.
