I got this for my 4 year old. He loves playing platformers, so I loaded it up with some classics plus Pico 8. I don't have to worry about microtransactions or him seeing something sketchy on YouTube, but I also don't have to sit right there watching his every move.
There are lots of options out there, but at this price point this is one of the more powerful cheap devices. To get something better you're looking at 60-75$.

When people stopped reading websites and hope to find all the answers on youtube, it's been getting crazy when all you want is a quick comparison. I don't think anyone should spend that much for GC or PS2 emulation, or even switch.
I think for PS2, maybe finding an old PSP might work better, I forgot if it can handle it or not since there were several versions.
Youtube videos are getting ridiculous.

1) I have to remove MagSafe wallet or stand before playing
2) don't want to kill phone battery.. charge battery . Granted most emu games are have low requirements
3) can use phone to do other stuff while playing on separate handheld
4) these small handhelds are in the <$50 range and I don't worry about them breaking.
5) I can let someone borrow or my kids play and not have to give up my phone

Carrying an extra device we need to charge just for emulation? I guess these are for hardcore emu players. I see a lot of these don't play all the games on every system as well.
I don't have kids, so I get that part.
I'm still on the train of just one good device to do everything, but people have different needs. That's cool.
An advantage of these retro handhelds is the price, as I don't really have to worry about the treatment of the device or it being lost. I've heard my peer parents bemoan their kids losing/misplacing/breaking Switch games or even the entire Switch itself. The device linked in the OP would be a fantastic option for someone to introduce their kids to gaming. I personally have the Powkiddy RGB10 and so far it's great.
