The ad says it'll add to my cart, but it doesn't. Going through the checkout, the weed and feed doesn't ever show up. Don't think I'll risk it.

My tip from experience and having a father in law that was a nutjob when it came to having a nice lawn (backhanded compliment lol). Pre-emergent crabgrass treatment should be put down right as the forsythias in the neighborhood start to bloom (to the newbies, they are the yellow flowered bushes found everywhere in NJ). This is for northern NJ at least. Pre-emergent treatment is key, kill it as it's trying to sprout. The best defense against crabgrass and weeds is a thick healthy lawn.
I am in New England and I put down halts last week, not the fertilizer one.
I used it before but never knew it had to be down that early.
Not sure if this was too early or too late but I have this stuff that looks like grass that comes up every year now since we had one bad year with tons of rain and the roots of part of the lawn were drowned.
Then this stuff took over like a cancer and now I can never get rid of it, it was already starting to emerge when I put down the halts but I have no idea if it works against this stuff.
It looks almost like real grass but it has much softer finer blades and is slightly lighter green in color and it doesn't root deep, it creeps along and smothers the grass like a thick shallow carpet and you can pull it up
I have tried pulling it up and there is bare dirt under because it kills the grass, I put patch down but this stuff just takes over the spot again before the real grass patch can even have chance to do anything.
I actually ordered "grassy weed preventer" from Amazon but halts crab grass preventer is what arrived.
I looked everywhere and I can not find the bag that was showing in the listing for "grassy weed preventer" so I am not sure if it's a different product or the same stuff with new label or if the stuff I am trying to kill or prevent is considered crab grass because it looks and behaves nothing like crab grass.

You NEED to identify what it is. Search images can help, or post a pic.

Yeah I don't think pictures will help with identification. Because like I said it looks almost identical to grass and it will be very hard to tell from a picture.
I will probably need to bring a specimen somewhere and have it DNA tested or something to find out but I have no clue who does that, maybe a golf course?
It looks so much like grass just finer blades and the roots barely go into the dirt at all and it creeps and smothers.

Part of what you describe is poa annua, annual bluegrass, with the exception of 'creeping'...it seeds itself readily and is a clump-type and doesn't have rhizomes/stolons, so doesn't 'creep'. It is a light green, soft, shallow-rooted crown, and withers and dies in the heat of summer.

I've used last season batches and had same control as fresh...after a few seasons the chemicals break down and become significantly less effective. Air tight container would be best if holding for next season.

Get a grip dude. Grass is the most economical ground covering available. Not everyone has the time, money, or desire to replace all with native plants. A responsibility managed lawn can be eco -friendly.
Wrong! It's a monoculture of useless plants! Provides NOTHING for wildlife. Then you cover it in poison that runs off in water and kills everything in the soil. Birds eat the tainted worms. Your dogs and kids get the cancer causing chemicals on their feet. Maybe you should do a little reading once in a while?

You don't need to replace it all. Just do something native! Anything! And stop using this poison. If you mulch your stupid grass that'll be enough fertilizer for it!
