Bought as an archive drive. I read so many horror stories about Barracuda that I'm worried a couple years later, after only like 100 power on hours, it just randomly dies...

Then buy one now, and buy another weeks from now, to assure you get drives from a different batch/lot. (I was assuming you would be using RAID 5 or similar, but as someone else responded, perhaps you meant a RAID 1 config. Either way, buying drives at different times is best.
