I used my ID once and it never let me use it again for another deal, it seems the ID quota is only one.

Reps to who can tell me the best way to get a new phone number to port in for this deal.

I don't plan on using the phone for actual cell service, so unlocking is not necessary. I just want a decent android device to use. Thanks in advance!

Update: I ordered a number for $5 from numberbarn, enabled SMS on it, then was able to port it to order this Motorola Edge for free + $55 the plan. Thanks FabulousStranger526!

I have gotten into bad habit of hoarding cell phones thinking some how you can become millionarie by flipping phones. this is gonna back fire.
As the saying goes...You can have a million dollars by flipping phones, you just need to start out with 2 millions Big Grin. All kidding aside, I've been buying/selling phones since 2020 and made about $3K-$4K a year. Sometimes things don't go as planned, but that's just the nature of the business.

I have 2 Edges from Total and 1 from Metro. They all fail Cricket and AT&T IMEI checkers. The 2 from Total are unlocked, Metro still locked.

Whether the phone is locked or unlocked doesn't change its Compatibility check. I have a TW-locked Moto Edge 2024. It didn't pass AT&T and Cricket check but it passed T-mobile check. Same locked phone. I can PM you its IMEI if you want to check it yourself.

Anyone knows if 60 day rule must be consecutive? I plan to pause the plan for the meantime bcz my visible sim works even though my edge 2024 is still carrier locked

Consensus is that you can pause and pay for another 30 days whenever to qualify for unlock.

Do you mean your TW locked Edge 2024 is working with Visible SIM before it's unlocked? Thanks

TW/TF/ST/PagePlus are all sub-brands of the Tracfone mother company (bought by Verizon in Nov 2023). As such, you can use a phone locked to one sub-brand on another sub-brand without needing to be unlocked (need to use a BYOP SIM if not re-branded). Visible is also owned by Verizon. Sometimes Visible will accept a phone from another sub-brand, sometimes it doesn't (claiming the phone doesn't have all the needed bands). With the Moto Edge 2024, it does.

So got this phone, would not activate with new phone number hence had to buy a $3 GV port out & that worked. The lowest plan after 55 is $40 hopefully you can downgrade it to 40 plan and still unlock the phone after 60 days for a total cost of 95$. Let's know is somebody ahead of us has done just that.

If some other person (like if you sold it) wanted to activate this with TW, can they do so? any other carrier affiliated with TW? Understand it that it will not work with other carriers till it is carrier unlocked but what about the same carrier or affiliated carriers?

To be accurate, TW and other sub-brands in the Tracfone Family (like Tracfone, StraightTalk, PagePlus..) are not carriers. They're Mobile Virtual Network Operators (MVNOs), or service providers, which don't own/operate a network. They buy service from a carrier like AT&T, T-mobile, or Verizon in this case and resell the service to their customers. With that out of the way, yes, the next owner of the phone can (re)activate it on TW, or other TF sub-brands like TF, ST, PP without needing to unlock the phone. It will accept a BYOP SIM of another TF sub-brand. To use the phone's original SIM with another sub-brand, the owner will need to ask a rep to "rebrand" the phone to the other sub-brand.

If the phone is currently registered in my name, how can you reset your profile and sell it to someone so they can activate to one of the above MVNOs of their choice. You want a clean cut off so if they do some bad stuff, it doesnt come haunt you.

  1. You need to do the steps below WHILE THE PHONE'S SERVICE IS STILL ACTIVE. You can't remove an inactive phone from your account yourself, it needs to be done by a rep.
  2. Log into your TW account-->Manage Lines-->Select the line tied to the phone that you want to sell.
  3. Below that line, click on DEVICES-->Scroll down to the bottom and click on Remove From Account. TW will send a security code to that phone. Enter the code. The phone will be removed from the account, no longer tied to your name, address, etc.
  4. Even when the phone had been removed from your account, it still has service until its time plan expires. If you want to sell it before that, remove the SIM from the phone and sell it without a SIM. The next owner can get their own SIM from TW or another provider (if phone had been unlocked).
  5. Do a Factory Reset and it will clear all of your personal info, apps, etc.

That means the phone has to be unlocked for them to use even with TW SIM during first 60 days correct? Which means it cant be activated in another users name for next 60 days. After 60 days, it doesnt matter any way, the phone will be unlocked and I can cancel the line, do a factory reset and sell.

The phone can be used by the new owner on TW or a sister-brand ANYTIME without needing to be unlocked. Let's say you activated your TW phone on 4/15 and it came with 30 days of service, so it'll be active until 5/14, and you've removed it from your TW account.
  • Let's say you want to sell the phone before 5/14 and you want to let the new owner use the remaining service days WITH the number that the phone was activated with, just reset the phone, then ship the phone WITH the original SIM card. It's no longer in any account, so it's not tied to you any more, except the phone number. The new owner can easily obtain a new phone number by texting MINC to 611611 and responds with his/her zip code.
  • Let's say you want to sell the phone before 5/14 and don't want to let the new owner use the remaining time, then port the number out of TW, that will end the phone's service, deactivate the original TW SIM. Reset the phone, ship the phone WITH the original TW SIM to the new owner so he can reactivate on TW with a new number. If he wants to use the phone with a sister brand, then he needs to get a BYOP SIM for that brand.
There are so many different scenarios and I don't want to list them all out. Tell me EXACTLY what you want to do and I will reply with what you need to do. Do you want to sell it locked before 60 days or sell it unlocked after 60 days? Do you want to let the new owner use any remaining service or not? Do you want to let the new owner continue to use the existing phone number or not? etc.
You can do a Factory Reset anytime to wipe out your info, apps, contacts, texts, call logs, files, pictures, etc. without affecting the phone's service, its lock/unlock status, its phone number (which is stored in the SIM).
