This is OK but it was at $499 for several months last fall and has been at this price all year. Has not been sold at $999 for a very long time.

Four of the normal Ryobi 40v 6.0 batteries? One of those is $150 alone - do the math and that's $600 in just batteries. You're essentially getting a free tiller.

If you set your store on the website or app and the item is clearance you will see a little yellow icon under the online price that says "see in store clearance price". Clicking that shows the price at that store only, and the inventory should on the page as well but it isnt always accurate with clearance. I wouldnt go on a long drive if it says there is only 1, but 3 or more might be worth hunting for.

Just got ours today, and the wife and I put it together tonight. The assembly video on youtube helped, but there were a couple of hiccups where some hardware didn't want to fasten. We got it done, but I wasn't impressed with the fit and finish of some metal parts. I expected better quality control from Ryobi. Anyway, it was getting dark, so we didn't bother testing it. I look forward to giving it a whirl tomorrow.

We also have a Troy Bilt Horse. I paid $1899 for the Horse 14 years ago. It broke the ground of our garden with it, and has tilled it every year since. It's a beast for sure, 361 lbs and powerful. Turning it is difficult, but it's a super solid machine. Our crazy plan is to sell the Horse and use the Ryobi as its replacement. It's nuts, I know. My thinking is our 70'x30' garden is well tilled, so the Ryobi should be able to handle it and looks like it will be a LOT more comfortable to use. Man, I just hope this wasn't an enormous mistake. I'm not worried a bit about shear pins, that's easy to replace. I am worried about the longevity of an electric garden tool. The Horse would easily last another 14 years. Will the Ryobi?

It does have a good warranty 5 years tool/3 years battery, but there are no factory service centers within 100 miles of where I live. None in Buffalo, Pittsburgh, or Cleveland.

I do remember when it was $499, but I balked at it. At least I got the 10% military discount and I signed up for a HD credit card, that's another $50 off. So It was 489.10 + tax, not bad for a full size tiller. It's our first Ryobi 40v tool, but now I'll be watching for more deals. I could use that kinetic log splitter and maybe a push mower.
