To put it in simple words, desktop GPUs will always be superior to their mobile counterparts. The RTX 4070 in this will be equivalent to a desktop RTX 4060 Ti or 4060. The desktop GPUs also have more VRAM than their mobile counterparts, for example 8GB in this vs 8-12GB in a desktop.

Who is the target audience for these Dell G15 and G16 laptops? Is it mainly gamers? But gamers who game at home or gamers who travel? Many people said these laptops are huge and like bricks and so is the charger. So taking it when traveling is not convenient right? So it's basically a desktop replacement? If that's the case, why not get a desktop instead? I assume it's because of the convenience of using It as a laptop when using it around the couch or in another room or occasionally traveling with it? Can't imagine someone bringing it to a coffee shop regularly for this?
The thing is the specs are very similar to the older XPS 15 laptops and current XPS 16 laptop right?. Thus processor is same as i7-H or i9-H and 32gb ram and 1tb ssd. The difference is these would have RTX 3060/3070 or 4060/4070 compared to XPS 15 which the 3050 or 4050 usually. The other similarity is the battery is both 86 Whr. However, people say the battery drains extremely fast on the Dell G15 and G16 laptop?
Can someone explain how this is the case if say the processor is similar to the XPS 15? Say with the XPS 15 9520 with i7-12700h processor and 32gb ram and 1tb ssd and RTX 3050 and 86 Whr. If both laptops are streaming the same YouTube video and playing it nonstop, the Dell G15 or G16 laptop battery will go out faster than the XPS 15? So web browsing would be still worst battery? If so why? Because when you are doing these things, you are using the Intel xe Graphics card with both laptops right and not the RTX so shouldn't battery be same? I know people say gaming laptops have horrible battery but the XPS isn't a gaming laptop though yet has similar specs?
I bought a gaming laptop recently to replace an old "multi-purpose" laptop that had aged into obsolescence.
When travelling, I wanted something compact enough to fit in a carry-on, but functional enough to not miss my desktop for most things (including gaming). The roll-on carry backpack doesn't care about larger size and weight, but I sure do love the power and versatility, and the 18" screen it comes with. the only other accessories I need to bring are a mouse and small adapter to whichever cluntry we're visiting. So yah, someone like me.
Apologies if this question has been answered elsewhere, but doesn't this specific processor suffer from the Intel over-voltage issue that degrades performance and lifetime of the processor?
A quick search of this processor - especially the laptop variant - appears to be one of the main processors that Intel had to "fix" - and the jury is still out on whether or not that "fix" worked.
Any updates I have missed on the status of this processor issue?
I just received this computer, and it's overheating dramatically. The temperature is spiking to 100°C without any programs running. This is unacceptable. What settings or immediate actions are necessary to resolve this critical issue? Thanks for any help

You could try updating the microcode for the processor, as the HX 13/14th gen processors have documented issues with overvoltage. There are some guides available on how to do this.

Hi, Wondering if you were able to resolve the overheating issue or not? I just ordered it yesterday (with 16GB of RAM) and after reading the thermal issues, I'm having second thoughts...Wondering if I should just return it and don't have to deal with the overheating issue. Thanks for any comment that you can provide!

Would be nice if the screen was closer to ~400 nits
