Oh yes they are.

Non-inverters are on and off machines. They always draw the maximum current. Either they are on or off. Every time the compressor turns on, it also affects other appliances because they have to use huge current to kick start the compressor. They maintain the desired temperature by turning off and on. No way to tell the compressor to just run at 25% to maintain desired temperature.

On the other hand, the inverter compressor versions is adjustable. It can draw as low as 100w just to maintain the desired temperature setting. I have this AC but with heater and by average, it draws 200-400w blowing just the right amount of cold air. If it's too hot, or you put it to maximum compressor speed and full fan speed, it can draw up to 1300w.
Yes I bought it and the sound noise is great. Sounds just like a fan. Night and day compared to my standard single hose condenser unit

This is not a 90 day warranty. It is a 90 day return to store. No service. And no extended warranty from any major credit card. Sucks!
Yeah that does suck. The fact they don't even give you an option to buy an extended warranty is very telling. They apparently don't have a lot of faith in these and just want them gone...

Mine came in, if it didn't say certified refurbished on the box, I'd assume that it's brand new. Made in Thailand. A little bit of smell when you first turn it on (probably because it's been sitting for a little while). So far it cools. Let's hope that it last a few years, or die within the next 89 days. My unit has some audible ticking sound when the compressor first turns on. And a part of the window cover slid out of the box (minor damage).

I have the Midea Duo Heater version of this thing. The cool and heat is awesome, but the evaporative thing never worked so i had to rig up a separate pump to rid of the condensation. There was also negative pressure issue which caused high humidity. There is also mold issues on it so don't just shut it off. Run it on fan mode until everything dries out or just do cool/fan as opposed to shutting it off. This also happened to the U window units.

edit: I am a glutton for punishment so i bought one of these for the upcoming summer months. Hope it works!

I got two of the heater/ac version as well and one of them works correctly with the evaporative system but the other one collects water like crazy. How did you rig up a separate pump? Did you just plug into the bottom drain

Just my two cents. But I have a single hose LG I got from woot a few years ago. Second summer it stopped working right. I had bought the extended assurion warranty and I made a claim. It was an instant refund. No hassle, no proof required. I still have the unit. If it doesn't magically work this summer I'll get rid of it. But I wouldn't want to buy one of these without a warranty.

*Edit* Disregard - not valid for purchases outside of amazon. Thanks to user @galvanter who called, verified and posted an update

You can buy assurion warranties within 30d of purchase for amazon, even for things not purchased from amazon. For this:
2y $27 https://www.amazon.com/ASURION-Ye...B0C4FYD5G3
3y $38 https://www.amazon.com/ASURION-Year-Major-Appliance-Protection/dp/B0C4G19V3R [amazon.com]

Take this FWIW. Asking on the questions page if it covers things not purchased from Amazon it says yes, if the plan is purchased within 30d. When asking if it covers renewed or refurbished, it also responds stating it covers refurbished items.

Looking at the official policy guide for the warranties the only thing that could be an issue is this line, although it says "or" not "and", and it does have an in store return policy it won't be covered, but it does have a 90d store return policy which seems to make this warranty valid:

Products not originally covered by a store return policy or Manufacturer's Warranty, e.g., floor models;

Source: https://m.media-amazon.com/images...HFNfyL.pdf

If you do go this route, the amazon page says the plan can be returned within 30d, but I would wait until day 28 or so to buy. That would give you nearly 2 months to test it out and be able to return both the unit and the warranty if you decide you don't want it.

Couldn't find what he was referring to but did see this, 10k hisense dual hose with heat certified refurb with 2y warranty $280 shipped
https://www.ebay.com/itm/146038793277

Then oddly this 8000 btu hisense which makes the same 550sq ft claim as the 10k one. Also with heat/refurb/2y warranty $220 shipped:

Neither of those appear to have an inverter motor (variable power usage).

Mine was delivered on it's side so I'm waiting a few hours to turn it on. It did have a little dirt on the front panel and a few small marks but it was otherwise is very good condition. It came with all accessories and installation bits and those appear to be brand new.

do you think you could share the ebay link you used for the Midea one so that maybe we could keep a watch on it for stock?
