Steelcase is an excellent brand. Worth the money but generally these are built to last and can be fixed as needed by parts from them.

I'd def get a second hand bc of the ridiculous cost. I have a euro tech bought at the start of the pandemic for daily work use $700…good but after research regret not getting the steelcase 2nd hand.

I do not know anything about this vendor but seems ok. Note credit card warranty do not cover pre owned products

From someone that has a HM aeron, HM Mira 1, Steelcase Amia, Steelcase Leap V2, Haworth Zody, and Haworth Very: best bang for the buck is the Haworth Zody.

Most Comfortable :
1. Zody
2. Amia
3. Leap V2

Best Recline:
1. Leap V2
2. Zody
3. Amia

Widest:
1. HM aeron
2. Zody
3. Very

Armrest:
1. Leap V2/Amia
2. Zody
3. HM Aeron

Obviously my opinion, but I've actually own these. Another sleeper would be the Knoll Life chair that you can find on CL or FB for like $30. Most of my friends that sit on one prefer it more than the HM products.

January 14, 2013 I bought a brand new Leap Chair from AllModern, who at the time was an authorized dealer.
Happy with it, I then bought another new one in January 2021 (to put in front of my musical keyboard) from this thread: https://slickdeals.net/f/14775508-new-steelcase-leap-chair-705-tax-fs-black-amazon-seller-amazon-authorized-reseller
The problem i always had with "cheap" office chairs from Best Best or Office Depot, was that the chair would eventually detach from the base pole. ...usually resulting in me doing a dramatic and comical backwards roll-out off the chair like a SCUBA diver entering the water, when they finally catastrophically fail.
The new Leap I bought in 2021 had me convinced I'd finally left that design problem behind. ↑ (2013 one was also still going strong) ...by spending about 7 times what I had usually spent on a new office chair. (going from about $100 with cheap chairs, to a whopping $700 for a Leap)
Now as I sit in my old 2013 chair, it squeaks very loudly when it pivots. And now (in the last week or so) I have begun listing hard to the left. Plus plastic bits have been breaking off and disintegrating the whole time. I often find little bits of broken black plastic on my floor under my chair.
My point is just to say, even these "nice" chairs are still far from bulletproof, though they ARE considerably tougher than standard cheapo office chairs.
It's tough call, whether they are actually worth it or not.
Comfort-wise they are great, and that's definitely worth a lot, for the time that they are working.
I'm interested in trying a Herman Miller Aeron chair next, since that was always my neck-and-neck pick versus Steelcase Leap anyway.

I own a Haworth Very that I found at the side of an apartment complex to be dumped believe it or not. It was dusty and had a bunch of pet hair and the arm rests were messed up (top layer of leather peeled back showing inner cushion), but I cleaned it up and it works and looks great. I can get arm rest replacements since they're replaceable, but they're expensive oem, and I haven't decided I wanted to take a chance with eBay/Amazon sellers. When I found out the chair is worth $1k I was shocked.

It is a great chair though. There's adjustments in every way you can think of. Up/down, leaning back tension, lumbar support up/down left/right, arm rest head swivel in or out (though it's in clicks, not smooth), up/down arm rests. The ONLY drawback, my tailbone starts to hurt sometimes. It's only if my posture begins to lack, otherwise the bottom has enough cushion to be comfortable if you sit on it with your back touching the back of the seat and your thighs flat like you're supposed to.

I don't know what else is out there, but I'm "very" happy with this chair 😆

I wouldn't buy from Crandall. Bought an open box grade A Leap v2, which seemed obviously used with multiple scuffs. Ended up returning it and buying from Steelcase directly for $150 more for a brand new one.

I got a used Leap V2 from a local company that specialized in secondhand office furniture. My back appreciates this, but my bony butt doesn't love the seat padding. But I sat on all kinds of chairs there (including Aeron and some other HM and SC chairs) and it was the least offending for me. I was having all kinds of back issues with the $100ish Staples/Officemax chairs.

At that price for Steelcase chair, might as well get Herman Miller for around same price local on FB marketplace. HM brand is build to last and quite comfortable for long sitting session.

I am 6'2", 200 lbs and like to tuck a leg under my butt when I sit. Which one of these would be most comfortable?
Currently doing this in a Leap V2.

This is just marketing and your anecdotal experience happening in real time.

I'm not an advocate for one over the other, but it is generally accepted that Steelcase and HM are in the same tier as far as quality goes.

...as if Steelcase isn't built to last?
Steelcase & HM are both premium manufacturers who build chairs for commercial use, and both build to last. Both have 12 year warranties as new chairs. Hell, they're even made in the same area.
HM vs Steelcase is more of a subjective choice based on specific chair models available. HM's popular chairs (Aeron, Mirra) are mostly mesh-bottom, and some people don't like those (they're not really suitable for folks who like to have a leg up on their chair).
Source: I have a Steelcase Leap V1 and HM Aeron. Leap V1 is my 'every day' chair despite being ~25 years old. I can't quit my leg-on-chair habit.

I was looking at their return policy. Does it mean that I can only ever return one chair free forever?

Good to know as I was thinking of buying a leap from them on the bay cause Im too lazy to drive. There is a local guy who has tons of inventory of used or close to new office furniture. He always has Leap V2's for like $320-350 or $450-500 in new condition.
I bought a refurbished leap from Crandall and it's like new except for a few light scratches on the base. They have detailed videos on YouTube which shows the entire process. I wouldn't hesitate to buy another refurb from Crandall.

I don't know how I should trust a company that is unwilling to hire someone who has the resources to take proper pictures, like a photographer would.

You should also check out btod.com and their Youtube channel. They have a Steelcase refurbishing business and sell chairs at a good price, including some of their Steelcase chairs where they've mixed parts from the Amia and Leap to make even better versions.

Picked up a solid looking Haworth Very brown leather for $685. Looks like they're normally about 2k. Hopefully it's in good shape. Excited to finally dump my cheap squeaky Covid chair

My Steelcase series 1 chair was great for 1 year. I forgot I was sitting in it it was so comfortable. Now a year plus old feels like sitting on metal tubes
