i caution everyone to maybe go see this in store, or at least be prepared to return it.

for 1. even though it is a 3 step ladder, the top step is only 26" high. thats only a couple more inches then a decent 2 step.

225lb rating is pretty darn low. and trust me it sure doesnt feel like it actually has that rating. it is super wobbly and sketchy feeling. its very narrow, and the steps are super small as well.

i wouldnt buy this for anything more than a petite women trying to reach a bit higher in the kitchen/laundry. trying to use this as an average size male, or even female, will leave you wanting.

I know this is a much more expensive ladder, but I'm using it as an example.

see the metal around the steps? That's what you want to have. Especially when the top step is part of the structure that keeps the thing upright. I would not rely on flimsy plastic to keep you 3' in the air... Or even 2'...

edit... Omg people. READ. I'm not saying you should buy the ladder ii linked to. Yes I know it is way more than the deal posted. Yes, I know it is no taller. I'm literally posting it to show people what I think is a very important feature that is lacking in the $20 step ladder, which is the metal steps, which also act as structural support. I'm not telling anyone what to buy or which to buy. I'm simply giving a caution. I thought I was being helpful, but apparently people are taking issue with sharing my experience/advice. You don't have to argue with me. Just buy it if you want.
About 6 months ago I picked up this step stool from Walmart for $18 (Cosco brand, tho identical), then soon wished I had bought two. Now my wish was granted. Thanks OP. Great step ladder and sturdier than I first expected.

Edit/Update: My Gorilla step stool was just delivered moments ago.
It appears it's not identical to my Walmart Cosco 3-step step stool and disappointingly very inferior to Walmart's model.

Each platform on the Gorilla stands 1" lower on rise, which makes the 3rd platform 3' shorter in height, compared to my $18 Walmart step stool.
But even more critical is that each platform on the Gorilla has about 30% less surface area and makes the entire step stool somewhat wobbly, whereas the Walmart/Cosco version is rock solid. Both rated at 225 lbs.
Considering returning and waiting for another deal on another Walmart/Cosco one.
The one you listed does look beefier but it also costs more than 2x as much, but more importantly carries the same 225 lb. rating as the one posted here.

yeash. i literally said it was way more money and that i was just using it as an example of a product feature to look out for. the metal edges around the steps makes for a WAY more sturdy ladder regardless of the weight rating.

I couldn't find a 2 step close to 26 inches high near the same price.
i didnt say you could. i was just pointing out a warning that as far as 3 step stools go, this one wasnt much taller than a lot of 2 step stools.

im not sure why giving information/a heads up on this website has turned into such a hostile experience. i said what i said and i'll stand by the advice.

its a cheap step stool for a cheap price. its not a good step stool for a cheap price, so dont expect one. if you want to buy it anyways, you dont have to tell me why you think im wrong. i dont care.

That's only 1" difference, for $30 more.

I've had this for several years and it's the best "around the house" step stool my wife and I have ever owned. In our experience it's been very convenient, easy to maneuver, and sturdy. Not sure why others have not been pleased with it. Maybe I got one made on a Tuesday and theirs was made on a Monday. By the way, I'm near the max weight rating for the item as well.

That's 1" difference in height on each of the 3 risers.
So that makes a 3" difference in the height level of the 3rd (top) step platform.

did you read? i was using it as an example of one that has the metal reinforced steps. it was not to show a better alternative, or one that was taller, or to even suggest that people buy it instead. i literally picked the most similar model that had one single single difference which was the feature I was suggesting people should look for in a step stool.

I've owned this for a few years and it's my go to ladder for jobs inside the house. I've used it to paint the entirety of 4 apartments. It's much more convenient and easier to move around than a traditional ladder. I can grab it and move it around one handed when open or closed. It's only wobbly if you have the legs on an uneven surface but what ladder isn't? If mine wasn't still in such great shape other than all the paint stains I'd be in for another.

I think the idea is that the $45 msrp price is not very accurate.

I've had it for over two years, I am 230lb and it has held perfectly, not wobbly. I am not sure if you saw the same model, or they really downgraded the product quality in recent times.

Ive had this for 3-4 yrs and its good. Great to have an easily accessible height booster. I haven't used it nearly as much as i thought i would, but i have really long arms + 5'10. I would recommend it at this price.

Can you share the Walmart Cosco one you got before? Do you think any of the cosco ones will be better value for money in terms of quality?
