The a35 is good, and is likely the last of the "good" Samsung a-series phones with an SD slot. The a36 and a56 don't have them.
I got the previous (nearly identical) a54 deal and was very happy with it. The two phones are architecturally almost identical (same processors and ram). It's not a speed demon, but is fast enough to do all "normal" stuff, like social media, email, phone, etc... without any real performance problems. Maybe a gamer would be disappointed with it, and it will be getting OneUI 7 very, very soon.
Porting in a number is a hassle -- if you don't already have a phone number.
The whole ID verification is just...how do the kids say it nowadays...."totes wack".
No idea how they're storing your image and credentials -- or who has access to them -- or what the process is for them to expunge that data -- or who is ensuring they're following best practices.

I chatted with total Wireless about this yesterday, they said for the second month I could lower the $55 plan down to a $45 plan for the second month. if you're buying additional lines it should be $30 for first month and $30 for second month or so I was told by someone on this thread
Received a call this morning from TW - Govt Affairs dept. The rep explained why my A35 was not eligible for unlock according to the NEW policy, that's when I interjected and reminded her that the "60 days of active paid service" did not exist when I bought and activated my phone. Says she needs to confer with someone and puts me on hold for over 10 mins, and comes back only to say that she needs to escalate to a senior dept. 😡 Will take 1 to 3 business days to get back to me. 🙄
More people need to file FCC complaints so that TW prioritizes the issue of retroactively applying their new Unlock Policy.

In your case, you could show them the TW policy using way back machine to see that at least until April 5th, the 60 day active policy wasn't there.
