PSA: Looks like total wireless changed the policy from 60 days after activation to 60 days of active service. This went in to effect April 1st 2025.

Good phone and good deal.

The a35 is good, and is likely the last of the "good" Samsung a-series phones with an SD slot. The a36 and a56 don't have them.

I got the previous (nearly identical) a54 deal and was very happy with it. The two phones are architecturally almost identical (same processors and ram). It's not a speed demon, but is fast enough to do all "normal" stuff, like social media, email, phone, etc... without any real performance problems. Maybe a gamer would be disappointed with it, and it will be getting OneUI 7 very, very soon.

Wow.

Porting in a number is a hassle -- if you don't already have a phone number.

The whole ID verification is just...how do the kids say it nowadays...."totes wack".

No idea how they're storing your image and credentials -- or who has access to them -- or what the process is for them to expunge that data -- or who is ensuring they're following best practices.

Oh who am I kidding, your DL and image are being sold to the highest bidder. We all know that.

Can someone who owns this Galaxy A35 help to check and confirm if the phone has eSIM additional to the physical SIM? I got the Moto Edge 2024 for my first line with TW, which has the eSIM I want, I am thinking if I should go with A35 or another Moto Edge for my second line with TW. Thanks!

Yes it does have an esim.

Buying the RAZR for $165 won't take advantage of the cheaper 2nd line, and it's better phone than A35 according to the specs I think. I don't like flip phone so I will pass anyway.
A35 and Moto Edge are close and comparable, I like 8GB RAM in Edge vs 6GB RAM in A35(but I am not sure if that makes noticeable difference). Why do you pick A35 over Edge?
Thanks!

I'm buying for resale I just assumed A35 had higher resale than Edge. The price I quoted for second line A35 $60 included second line discount. 165 for razor is the normal price as you say no discount and would be $100 more for me.

You don't have to pay the bills for all lines in your account. You can pay separately by choosing which line you want to pay by going to mange lines section.
When I try it, the payment amount is still for all lines, not just the one line. It doesn't seem to work for me.

So I have a number on a family plan. If I port my number over to TW for two months but keep paying for T-mobile how do I switch back after the two months?

Wouldn't pausing your line work instead?

This truly sucks, my unlock date is April 26. I'm going to hang on until then and hope I'm one of the lucky ones. My initial 30 days expired in March. Haven't seen anyone saying it needs to be an uninterrupted 60 days so hoping if I do end up needing to take out another month two lots of 30 spread over the three months will be enough for it to satisfy their new requirements rather than 60 in a row. If you did what I did and let it lapse you may have been sent a $10 discount code which brings their cheapest 30 day plan down to $25 which is likely what I'll opt for. Urgh.

Pls see this post shared by @shrewdwealth799. Hoping it works, I activated mine on Mar 1, so hoping it will be unlocked by the old policy

Thanks, good idea. Maybe you can pause phones separately, I don't know. I would probably call customer service or chat before I tried, though It's a good suggestion and good to know. I was replying to someone else about what they're trying to do. Myself, I bought my phones on a multi-line plan at the same time, so they are all synced in their billing cycle.

Hello, hope someone can answer this for me. I have a phone number part of a tmobile family plan. I want to keep the plan but I'm worried porting my number to TW for two months will cause an issue. So am I able to buy the phone, pay for two months worth of service and after it unlocks just put my sim from my old phone into the new one and pretend like nothing ever happened?

Thank you for the link. I've just submitted my complaint—now I'll wait and see what happens.

My complaint is similar to yours. My Edge reached its 60-day mark yesterday and did not unlock. I called the unlocking department, and they told me that I need to satisfy the new unlocking policy...
UPDATE:
  • Phone activated: 02/07/2025
  • Original unlock date (per old policy): 04/08/2025
  • FCC complaint filed: 04/09/2025
  • Phone call from Total Wireless (TW): 04/14/2025 – A representative informed me that my complaint had been escalated to upper management and that they were working to resolve the issue. I was told I should receive an update within a week.
  • Second phone call from TW: 04/15/2025 – The same representative called me back with a response from upper management. She explained that even though my phone was activated before April 1, I still need to complete 60 days of active service for the phone to be unlocked under the new policy. Frown

She offered a workaround: to keep my account active for another 30 days by purchasing a $10 plan (plus tax, total $11.73) that includes unlimited calls and texts but no data. I agreed and paid for the plan over the phone. She assured me that my phone would be automatically unlocked on May 15. On my account, under "Line Details," it now shows: "TW 1 Line Stay Connected."

Fingers crossed.

This gives me some hope. I am still going to wait for unlock date but if they can offer me a $10 plan then I will do that, will be filling fcc complaint on April 27!

My phone is supposed to be unlocked on April 26th, but if it doesn't unlock I'll have to call on the 28th and ask for the $10 plan. I'm not sure if they'll accept the $10 plan.
