Kind of looks like the turning handle has sharp edges. However, it probably just appears that way in the product pictures.

This is a really crappy can opener. Get the made in the USA EZ-DUZ-IT for ~$12. When Swing-A-Way moved their production offshore, some employees bought the machines and kept making can openers.

Came here to comment exactly this. Just buy the EZ Duz It and save yourself the hassle of these crappy ones. I like saving money as much as the next guy but I also like avoiding headaches and inconvenience.

I'm not usually the "just spend more for xxxx" guy here, but I have a suggestion that isn't tremendously expensive: just spend a few bucks on an old-school Swing Away, or the aforementioned EZ Duz It. It won't ever be this cheap, but it'll be the last can opener you ever need. My grandmother used the same one for like 50 years. I got mine in 1997, which I know because it was purchased when my ex and I got our first apartment. She's long gone but my Swing Away can opener is still around and has never let me down. It's still pretty much the same as what they sold 70 years ago, which is telling.
When I worked in restaurants, we went through a lot of can openers, because they all seemed to break. Swing Aways were the exception.

I got one that looks very similar to this in like 2008 from the Amish and they just resell a junk products in their stores. Ive had zero issues with it.

I totally agree. Personally I cannot comment on the quality of this Walmart can opener because I have had no need to buy another can opener since I bought my EZ Duz It can opener back in 2012 from Amazon. I was frustrated after throwing away 5 cheap can openers in a year and was so happy that EZ Duz It totally ended my misery. It is still sold by Amazon today.

I too can attest that the EZ Duz It is the best can opener I've ever owned. In fact I'm thinking of buying a couple more so if I ever lose the one in the kitchen I'll have a backup and I'll also throw one in my emergency preparedness tubs to open cans in case of a natural disaster. Can't have enough great can openers!

I mean that you'll use it once or twice and get frustrated with it to the point that you buy a different one. Save yourself the hassle and buy a decent can opener.
