No local dimming.
It helps display deeper black color in the dark area by dimming backlit leds individually. minimizing washed out black color effect. More dimming zone the better. Full array < miniLED < Oled(pixel lit).

I think this tv has decent contrast for the price though. I recommend taking a look at Rtings reviews if you are in the market for tv.
Why didn't you just plug in a Roku?

rtings says this has a poor viewing angle but their reviews seem to say that about most TVs unless you're in the $2000+ range. Can anyone who has this TV give any feedback? My couch is within 25 degrees so 80% of the seats will be fine. But is it just horrible if you're at 45 degrees?

Viewing angle is one of those stats rtings loves to harp on but the reality is, for most people, it's a non-issue at normal viewing distances. Yes, if you're 2' distance away and completely off axis from the center, it's going to look like crap. Who watches tv like that?

I've had this exact tv for two months ($390 on clearance from BB YMMV thread on here about it). With your arrangement, it will NOT be an issue whatsoever.

No, it is not. This doesn't have local dimming while the QM7 has a ton of zones. QM7 is much brighter as well.

Still a pretty good price.

I purchased this TV when it was 699 or so. Like others mentioned, a little bit darker compare to my other Samsung TVs. But for the price and size I believe it was an incredible deal. No regrets. I also like the google interface.

I bought this TV in February. I've always had Samsung TVs and honestly I love the level of detail in the picture on this TV compared to my Samsung Q60. I don't use the TVs interface; I use an AppleTV 4k. I had a hard time getting the 2 synced so the AppleTV will turn on with the TV but after resetting both devices it started to work properly. You can setup this TV without the GoogleTV interface if you won't be using it and I set the TV to power on to my AppleTV HDMI input. Definitely worth the price for this TV in my opinion.

Some people are way too hung up on the integrated TV OS. Unless you're buying a higher end TV, a quality external media box is going to be faster.
Idk about faster. My $120 roku tv is the fastest tv I own. But I have grown to like the google homescreen on my Sony OLED. It's visually super cluttered and busy, but it does aggregate all my typical shows right together on the homepage even though they are spread across 4 different apps. I have a Roku Ultra plugged into that TV but rarely use it anymore.

Are you trolling? Sony is great at upscaling and all but what's wrong with native 4k content especially since it has a 120Hz native panel?

I have the 43" version of this and if the 75" uses the same OS/processor, I wouldn't. I've been a loyal fan of Sony and while I still think they're good for picture quality, the other aspects of these lower-end units definitely aren't great. I use the 43" as a PC monitor and the lack of local dimming doesn't bother me for my uses.

Too bad it's a Google interface. I *HATED* our TV that had that. Quickly sold ours on marketplace at a decent loss and replaced with Roku. Generally I like Sony though.
I much prefer the Google TV interface, much more stable, but I use Roku players instead of Google TV apps. But in the r/roku form I read alot of problems with Roku TVs, and I would never buy an Amazon Fire TV. I have a Sony 65" 4K TV I bought in 2018 and still works perfectly, but it only has HDR but no Dolby Vision. I bought a Hisense 4K TV for the bedroom last year with HDR & Dolby Vision and notice the colors are noticeably brighter on the Hisense, so considering this.

I used to be in the electronic business....
There was a time in which Sony's 80/800 85/850 series picture quality was 95% as good as their 90/900series it would lack a few premium features.

I've been waiting for a 120hz 75" deal for the garage. Ordered. Anyone have experience with Mantel Mounts? I want to mount the tv high out of the way but be able to pull it down when in use. https://www.mantelmount.com/
I have a mantel mount and could not recomend it more. Now everyone in my family has one.

I'm done giving this community good advice. Y'all are jerks. Good luck.
