Some places have been offering the Pixel 9 for $400 (newer modem than 9a) and better future resale value. Only makes sense to get the 9a if you got the $100 code and trade-in. I agree though, store credit is useless unless you're rolling it into two device purchases.

I bought the 9a because I had a $100 Google Code from my Pixel 4a battery issue and I had ~$78 credit from my previous Pixel 9 Pro purchase. I got $138 in Google Store credit from the 9a purchase that I will probably use to buy the Pixel 10 around Black Friday when Google historically has great sales on Pixel Phones. I traded the 4a for the 9a and will end up paying $250 (not including the store credit earned from purchase) for the 9a when it is all said and done after using the coupon and credit.
