You dont have to do this necessarily as the verification code they send when you are purchasing the phone doesnt have to be the phone number you are porting. You can get the verification code on any number then when you port a number over you can use the number barn number for $5

Yes, but nobody sold you something for $125-200 under retailer wholesale cost.
You get what you pay for.
You can buy this phone for more without the requirements.
If they did not require this some folks would buy dozens to resell (which I have no exact issue with other than it make such a deal impossible to offer)
Decide for yourself.
It's really no different from walking into T-mobile and signing a contract to get a 'free' or subsidized iphone. They take your id there.

Does anyone know whether the phone can unlock while it is overseas? or do you need to be connected to the US carrier's network for the unlock to finalize on the phone?
They won't unlock it unless it will meet the unlock policy requirements.

I'm assuming Visible numbers won't work for port in since it's a Verizon owned brand?
I put my Visible number in to check and it says I am eligible. Didn't follow through yet though.

What's that cheapest method to get a number to transfer? Google voice? number barn?
Google voice does not work.
It will show accepted at first but during checkout you start getting errors and alerts something is wrong. Try visible $5/month with a referral code you can reddit

Purchased the A35 the other day and it tracked as ineligible Frown Technically the phone was free and I paid for the plan, which is excluded. So ya, probably best to try another site.
I bought the A35 couple months ago and used Ibotta app. For whatever reason, some other cashback sites have had issues tracking on my desktop so I just go through that app which seems to track everytime. The one time it didn't, I complained to customer service, they got most of the credit which is better than getting denied from other sites.

I think it's worth trying Google Voice for $3. Some people here have been able to make it work if you look in the comments some suggest a physical address and zip to use that sometimes works if your ass that. I believe it's been said here that you can place the order with a different carrier port, then when phone arrives you can port with your Google Voice number instead? I would love confirmation of this

Google voice worked fine for me on the moto edge deal that was posted last week. Just use your phone number as account and pin number. No need to add address when porting.

I tried 2 phone numbers, both on Visible, neither would receive the text verification code. So, I don't think Visbile ports will work.
