You dont have to do this necessarily as the verification code they send when you are purchasing the phone doesnt have to be the phone number you are porting. You can get the verification code on any number then when you port a number over you can use the number barn number for $5

Yes, but nobody sold you something for $125-200 under retailer wholesale cost.
You get what you pay for.
You can buy this phone for more without the requirements.
If they did not require this some folks would buy dozens to resell (which I have no exact issue with other than it make such a deal impossible to offer)
Decide for yourself.
It's really no different from walking into T-mobile and signing a contract to get a 'free' or subsidized iphone. They take your id there.

One shipped the next day, the other didnt go out for two days.
They both ended up being delivered together.

had the same thing, eventually UPS got it and got delivered. You might have to wait another day or 2.

The $50 plan included Disney+ for 6 months, when I cancel the arrive after 3 months, I still have 3 months left on Disney+?

If you choose to discontinue your eligible plan during the 6-month promotional subscription period, your promotional subscription will end on your Total Wireless service end date, and any remaining time in it will be lost.

Tried activating new iPhone 13 with ask for new number option to see if I could avoid having to do the port but I got a screen saying bring your own number was required to activate device so I can confirm that trick isn't working anymore as some claimed it did

YMMV, but I activated after 22 days (from purchase to porting activation). After a couple weeks you get automatic emails reminding you to activate.
