You dont have to do this necessarily as the verification code they send when you are purchasing the phone doesnt have to be the phone number you are porting. You can get the verification code on any number then when you port a number over you can use the number barn number for $5

Yes, but nobody sold you something for $125-200 under retailer wholesale cost.
You get what you pay for.
You can buy this phone for more without the requirements.
If they did not require this some folks would buy dozens to resell (which I have no exact issue with other than it make such a deal impossible to offer)
Decide for yourself.
It's really no different from walking into T-mobile and signing a contract to get a 'free' or subsidized iphone. They take your id there.

Got number from number barn for $5.
In the "numbers" tab there should be something there in regards to porting out. Its been a few weeks but I think there is a port out info button there that you click on and it has the account number and pin.
After you have that info numberbarn will send an email or a message within their webpage that a request to port out has been made and to wait the amount stated. For me this took like 5 minutes to process.

Activated my number a few days ago with Google port. Mobile data Works, texting outgoing and incoming works going and calls out work but receiving calls still go to Google voice. Should I give it a few more days?

I made the mistake of trying to port a google voice number before unlocking it. I subsequently unlocked it, but now that number won't port. Total Wireless says Google is telling them my account number isn't correct. I explained to the rep that I don't have an account number, but was able to port another number with the account number 000000 which he was able to see in the system.

Any ideas on how I can fix this other than trying to deal with Google Voice support? Thanks!

GV tells you that your account number is your phone number (xxxyyyzzzz)

Your port out PIN is the voicemail "call to listen" PIN
