It's really no different from walking into T-mobile and signing a contract to get a 'free' or subsidized iphone. They take your id there.

Weird, numberbarn sent an email saying a port out has been initiated. But now I cannot login to my Total Wireless account. It says "We apologize, but we cannot process your transaction at this time. Please try again later or call us at 1-866-663-3633." when I try to login. Anyone have this happen? This error started happening right when I received the port out email from numberbarn.
Since you will technically have service "split" across two numbers until the port is complete - perhaps you should log in to TW using the e-mail address and not the phone number. Worst case is going through an account setup process again once the port is over - a bunch of us had our accounts look shut down but once we did a setup procedure again all the underlying data was still exactly the same. Unsettling, but probably not a fatal flaw in your pursuit of this deal.

Edit: I just noticed I can make calls from the iPhone but cannot receive. I can also send AND receive text messages from the phone. But my port out from numberbarn isn't complete.
Edit 2: Numberbarn port in was successful in 3 hours from activation. Nice. Did have an issue with eSim and had to troubleshoot but the CSR was really helpful.
