Thanks OP....Good deal... Normal price is $25/gal so this is like buy 2 get 1 free. I used this transmission oil on the 2018 Sienna in the past 56k miles with no issues. I am about to change it at 60k miles interval with this oil. Here is tip if you change it the first time from the factory filled up. Just drain it out into a measurable container, and fill it back in the exact same amount (assuming your transmission is NOT leaking since the last transmission oil change). In this way, you can skip the warm up/temperature measure etc.

So you never open the check valve ? I usually put 1/4 qt more than what I take out , bring to temp , open check valve and let it run out to a trickle

Look up the capacity of your torque converter and you will realize you were only changing out some of your fluid. You need to disconnect the oil cooler and let that pump into one container and the other side sucking new fluid back in. Yes it you will go through more than if you were able to drain it all, but this is the only way to get it really clean. Look on YouTube for a video.

I have never heard of a transmission check valve. What is the correlation between a transmission check valve and changing the transmission oil?

Yes, I am aware that I only changed some of the transmission fluid/oil when I drained and filled it up. It's good enough rather than not changing it at all. I have done the exact process for my 18-year-old RAV4 second car with 233k miles on the clock and no issues with the transmission.

The minimum you should change out the torque converter is to drain and fill for at least 3 times. This way, you wouldve replaced almost 90% of the fluid in the torque converter without requiring special equipment or techniques. It's the easiest and less hassle easiest versus the professional methods.

or you can pull the transmission cooler line and just flush it out that way.

Not sure 3x would do it since you're mixing the old and new fluids every time you do a drain and fill. As far as I remember when I did several fluid exchanges via the cooler line it took about 12-14 quarts before the fluid turned cherry red. However, if you're doing this alone or after a "complete" fluid exchange then a drain and fill would be great to maintain your fluids

My issue with this fluid is that when they added CVT support to it, it thinned out the formula and it wasn't suitable for T-IV transmissions and Honda automatics, 2009 and back. If you are looking to change your automatic transmission fluid, use the blue Valvoline Blue Import Fluid as the fluid is certified for this transmissions. My 04 Matrix and 08 Civic did not like this fluid, but was fine with the blue import.

When did they change it? It still list every Toyota fluid as compatible with. Crazy how many types it's "suitable for"
