If you try to pay off the full balance of the device through your online verizon account or over the phone you will not be allowed to before your account has been active for 30 days. This is how they force you into having to pay for the entire first month.

It is sometimes possible to go into a Verizon store with your new account info and pay off the balance with cash in person before your account has reached 30 days. Then you are free to cancel the line before the full 30 days, with the perfect situation being you do this all within 72 hours of device purchase and you have a case to have your first month of service and any activation fees waived. Leaving you to only have paid the cost of the device. And since it has been activated, the 60 day unlock timer will continue and you'll have an unlocked device in 2 months.
600 with hoops for 1+ year old phone??? No! Great phone and nothing wrong with it but it's nearly 18 months old folks. Stop thinking these are deals
Just received mine and it's 12GB.

So, open a new Vz account, stay on monthly postpaid service (lowest tier $50 pmo), pay off the entire phone amount after first month. Cancel when phone is unlocked (after 2 monrhs)?

yes it will work , or you can pay off early at store in cash but that in YMMV.

Does one have to keep active account for only 60 days only then cancel service because phone is paid off

Nope. Once phone is activated on network , then it will be automatically unlocked after 60 days. No need to keep service active with that phone for 60 days.

It's tempting to get this, then sell my S24 Plus 512gb on a site like eBay for $550. And end up only paying an extra $100 for the Ultra and a month of service.

Will it get unlocked if you go outside US after activation but before 60 days ?

After the recent policy changes with Verizon unlock criteria (60 days of active service mandatory), don't we need to keep the service for 2 months? That means activation fee and also 2 months of plan cost adds to the price?

Been waiting patiently for s24 deals now that it's a year old model. What happened to them.. seems most models are already depleted.

Thats only for Verizon prepaid MVNO. Verizon postpaid policy is still 60 days after activation and not updated to 60 days of service - https://www.verizon.com/about/con...ing-policy

Actually that policy is also the same for Verizon prepaid (and it's on the same URL that you shared.) but the reps have mentioned otherwise. They have explicitly advised to continue the service for 60 days without interruption to avoid any issues. Nvm thanks for your confirmation
