Once you open it, it's recommended to eat it within a week. But if you vacuum seal and freeze it, you can definitely have a long shelf life. The Moutain House folks are helpful too, so you can always reach out to them directly.
Rice and chicken is 23, seems like average price is about 30-35 on ccc

In contrast, I was disappointed with the Augason brand, also purchased from amazon. They're fairly old and the shelf life don't match what's on the description. Read the reviews.
