The panel is beautiful; I got one for <$400 (lowest I've seen). And while it is beautiful, it is not 2x or 3x more beautiful than other monitors. Mine sits next to a 43" Neo G7 and a 32" G70D. Both of those monitors are mid-to-upper level monitors and this panel can achieve more vibrant colors. Other than that, it's just a standard 60hz IPS panel (albeit 5k resolution).

The Samsung is a matte display so the colors look less vibrant and quite honestly the matte looks poor quality and dated. The Samsung runs a TV OS with a remote control which is a poor user experience. There's no software brightness control from the computer over USB-C or DisplayPort. The camera is disappointing. The build quality feels really cheap. When you turn it off the picture shrinks like an old tube TV which I find really tacky for a high end computer monitor.
I haven't tried the ASUS ProArt 5K but I have tried the Apple Studio Display. The Studio Display isn't worth the price premium over the LG since the picture quality is nearly identical.
I think I replied that I was glad that the monitor had a beautiful picturee and that the cost was due to the 5K. I had a Dell 6K that is now $3000 and it was bad enough that I returned it.

Do not buy this display, whatever you do. I went through 3 months of warranty hell, awful communication, and FOUR replacement units direct from Samsung. They ended up getting so fed up with warranty support on this thing that they literally gave me a pick of any display from their store. And I mean any. I now have a G80SD 32" OLED as a result of this fiasco per Samsung, which is 4K/240Hz and that's all well and good but the visual clarity cannot be compared whatsoever. Seriously, it was a visual treat, but this monitor WILL fail you at some point far sooner than you want.
It's a genuine shame, because with great color and being 5K at 27", it sets a standard of 218 PPI, and my god does every single game visually feel like a brand new experience. I don't care about 60 FPS or refresh rate, visuals are the literal most important thing to me and believe me 5K absolutely brings it, even if it's 30 FPS or under. You can basically turn off any form of anti-aliasing, it's that crispy. And before you ask, yes, a LOT of games, even older titles prior to 2010 supported 5120x2880 without a single issue. This monitor wowed every single friend and family member that I showed it to. This is where the pros end.
Cons:
-Every unit I received had some form a delamination, air bubbles, and in particular, dirt trapped underneath the matte film or polarizer. This is really only possible to occur during the actual bonding on the panel, so either I received 4 monitors from the same bad batch, or Samsung has an underlying quality control problem that they're not admitting to.
-My first unit died within 6 months. No panel overclocking (60Hz only) at all. One morning it just refused to boot up. I have this plus my desktop attached to a surge protector and battery backup.
-My second unit had bad vertical lines, similar to a bad cable. I use a fiber optic HDMI cable that I tried other displays on the same cable with no issue, and no finagling of the port itself or swapping cables adjusted anything visually. Bad panel.
-Third and fourth panels had severe dust particles trapped inside during the bonding process alongside general panel delamination. This is where Samsung had enough and just let me have my pick of anything on the store or a full refund.

Apple is also reportedly working on a mini-LED refresh to their 5K monitor. It will likely be around the $1500 price point, but if it's as good as their mini-LED macbook pro screens then it's comparable to OLED and they might get me to part with $1500.
