They charged me the second month despite having the auto pay off. They got nasty on the phone so I filled out a FCC complaint. Money refunded the next day.
Don't count on any of the consumer protection agencies for too long. Time will tell.
That's good that there are still workers at the FCC to help out.

This can be combined with a referral to get $10 Tello dollars to use in the future. Unlike some of the other MVNOs, you need to use the referral when you create the account.

If you want to delay activation, you are better off ordering a physical SIM. The last offer, we ordered an eSIM and the month started right away. Tello extended the month for me -- unlike the previous poster, we have always had positive interactions with their customer service. If you do NOT want to renew, you have to actually cancel the plan (see screenshot). After you cancel, the plan will continue for the rest of the month and you will not be charged for a renewal. Since this deal is for a three month plan, I would wait until the third month to cancel if that is what you want to do.

And if you don't really need 35GB, you can downgrade after month three. Tello makes it easy to change each month, so you don't have to pay for more than you need. And while it doesn't work for the unlimited plan, if you have a fixed amount of data/minutes, you can rollover unused units by manually renewing a day before the autopay.

I'm told tello is good with roaming internationally unlike Redpocket? It will be pay as you go, but you can receive texts, make phone calls etc, I'm talking about countries outside of mexico and canada. Their 2GB plan is at 10 per month. Can someone who has used their international feature comment?

To roam internationally, you have to purchase a $20 pay as you go credit. The credit expires in 90 days unless you purchase a monthly plan to keep it active (but the monthly plans will not work internationally). You could potentially open an account with a referral, then on day 89 use your Tello Dollars to buy a $5 plan to keep your balance active. That would keep your $20 valid for an additional two months. More info about the roaming here: https://tello.com/international_roaming

Yes, I'm planning on traveling for (2) weeks at max and after that if it expires, I wont need it for a while till I travel again. So for 20 bucks you get a international service basically is how I look at it. How does their international data works? when you are not near wi-fi. does that come out of $20 credit?

Just my two cents as a customer since 2017.

Not a big user (2GB data + 100 minutes for $7/month)

Fairly pleased over the years. No issues porting over phones / upgrading to new phones. Unless I'm in the absolute boonies, service has been good. The only thing I don't care for (and it's very minor) is manually renewing my plan a day before it auto-renews, so my data and minutes roll over (Tello can notify you 48 hours in advance and takes 60 seconds).

I guess I look at it the other way. Most comparable plans reset every month, so I am happy to have the opportunity to roll over my data and not pay for something that goes unused. Yes, it's a minor annoyance but as you noted it only takes 60 seconds. And of course, there is no requirement to manually renew, for other people reading this, you can always just let your plan auto renew each month.

I 100% agree with you. I suppose it's something I've taken for granted all these years!

At this point, I basically pay $7/month for an unlimited plan with the amount I've rolled over! ๐Ÿ˜

In your opinion is this the best service to have for low use? I want a cheap active line for when friends visit from overseas. I currently have an xfinity line where the two year cheap rate has expired. Is this op plan only 7$ a month with rollover minutes? Any advice appreciated. Ty thumbs ๐Ÿ‘
